Hodes set to travel outside district

Two days after he said he is "seriously considering" running for the U.S. Senate in 2010, U.S. Rep. Paul Hodes (D-Concord) has announced that he will be visiting an endangered call center outside of his congressional district.

Hodes' congressional office announced on Wednesday that Hodes will visit the AT&T call center in Dover on Thursday. AT&T announced last week that it will close the call center because the State Department has not renewed a contract with AT&T and the company will now have to lay off the center's 300 employees.

Dover is in the 1st Congressional District of U.S. Rep. Carol Shea-Porter (D-Rochester), but Hodes' visit is part of an effort to keep the center open.

Hodes and Shea-Porter have written letters to Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice and Secretary of State Designate Hillary Clinton to urge them to keep the center open.
