Gregg, Shaheen pledge bipartisanship

U.S. Sens. Judd Gregg (R-Rye) and Jeanne Shaheen (D-Madbury) pledged today to work together to help solve problems facing the state of New Hampshire.

Shaheen was sworn in earlier today to become New Hampshire's first female United States Senator and Gregg said that he was "honored" to be a part of the swearing in event.

"Today, I was honored to join Senator Shaheen for her historic swearing in as the first woman to represent the Granite State in the U.S. Senate," Gregg said in a joint statement with Shaheen. "Jeanne and I have a long history of working together to advance the interests of New Hampshire and I look forward to building on that strong bipartisan relationship to ensure that the decisions made in Washington promote our state's values and benefit New Hampshire citizens."

Shaheen said that Gregg has helped her with putting together an office and will work with the senior senator to create economic growth.

"I was honored that Senator Gregg escorted me to my swearing in ceremony today," Shaheen said. "We've enjoyed a good working relationship throughout the years, and he and his staff have been incredibly kind and helpful to me as I have been setting up my office and preparing to serve the people of New Hampshire. I look forward to working with him to put our economy back on track by creating jobs in New Hampshire and laying the groundwork for long-term economic growth."
