Elliott congratulates Sanborn on primary win

Responding to news that PolitickerNH.com has called the state Senate District 7 Republican primary for his opponent, Larry Elliott simply offered his congratulations.

"My only reaction is that I congratulate him," Elliott told PolitickerNH.com. "I wish him well in the general election."

Elliott was beaten by Andy Sanborn (R-Henniker) in the Republican Primary Tuesday night. Sanborn will go on to face freshman state Sen. Harold Janeway (D-Webster) in the general election.

Tobin sees philosophical different with Reynolds after primary win

State Rep. William Tobin said he is looking forward to his general election race with state Sen. Deb Reynolds, with whom he said he shares a "philosophical difference" about the role of government.

Tobin (R-Sanbornton) told PolitickerNH.com that he is looking forward to "redoubling our campaign programs" as his team shifts into gear for the general election.

The nominee said that he respects Reynolds (D-Plymouth) but fundamentally disagrees with her about the proper size of government.

Sanborn projected to win SD-7 GOP primary

With 74 percent of precincts reported, PolitickerNH.com has projected that Andy Sanborn will win the state Senate District 7 Republican primary.

Sanborn currently leads state Rep. Larry Elliott (R-Antrim) 56 percent to 44 percent. 

Sanborn (R-Loudoun), a Concord small business owner, edged state Rep. Larry Elliott for the nomination. Sanborn will face state Sen. Harold Janeway (D-Webster) in the general election.

Tobin bests Dingman in SD-2

State rep. William Tobin has won the Republican primary for state Senate District 2.

According to the New Hampshire Public Radio count, Tobin (R-Sanbornton) leads State Rep. Vernon Dingman (R-Haverhill) 77 percent to 23 percent with 52 percent of precincts reporting.

Tobin will place freshman state Sen. Deb Reynolds in the general election.

Denley takes SD-3 GOP primary

State Rep. William Denley has captured the Republican nomination in state Senate District 3, besting state Reps. Sam Cataldo and David Babson in Tuesday's primary.

With 47 percent of precincts reporting, Denley has earned 53 percent of the vote, compared to Cataldo's (Farmington) 26 percent and Babson's (Ossipee) 21 percent, according to New Hampshire Public Radio's returns.

Denley will face Judge Willard "Bud" Martin (D-Center Sandwich) in the general election.

Romney to hold Boston fundraiser for Sununu

ST. PAUL, Minn. - Former Gov. Mitt Romney is scheduled to hold a fundraiser for U.S. Sen. John Sununu at the end of September, PolitickerMA.com has learned.

The fundraiser will be held in Boston on Sept. 22, according to Romney spokesman Eric Fehrnstrom.
