Guinta silent on political future

MANCHESTER--Mayor Frank Guinta decided to pass on a question about whether he will run for re-election in 2009 but said that he would make an announcement "at the appropriate time."

Guinta, mayor of the largest city in New Hampshire, is often mentioned by Republicans as a potential statewide candidate, or congressional candidate, in 2010. If Guinta decided to run in 2009 he would be running for his third-term as mayor.

Lynch dodges Senate question, says Blago should resign

MANCHESTER--Gov. John Lynch (D-Hopkinton) dodged a question about whether or not he would challenge U.S. Sen. Judd Gregg (R-Rye) in 2010.

Coming off a historic win in November, Lynch's name is often mentioned as a possible candidate against Gregg, who said the day after the election that he planned on running for another term.

"I haven't even been sworn-in for my third term," Lynch told reporters. "We need to work together to pass a budget and deal with the current economic challenges the state is facing."

Knytych running again in ‘10

LACONIA--Greg Knytych (R-Laconia) has decided that he will run again for the State Senate in 2010.

Knytych lost in November to state Sen. Kathy Sgambati (D-Tilton) by 2,046 votes in State Senate District 4.

"Deciding to run now will help me begin to network with people and raise the money needed for a successful campaign," Knytych told PolitickerNH.com.

Knytych attributed his lost in November to Sgambati's fund-raising advantage.

Bradley says ‘very unlikely’ he will run in 2010

Former U.S. Rep. Jeb Bradley (R-Wolfeboro) said that it is "very unlikely" his name will appear on the ballot in 2010, but did not rule out running for political office in the future.

Bradley lost to incumbent U.S. Rep. Carol Shea-Porter (D-Rochester) on Election Day, but told supporters that he might run again for Congress.

"Save those signs," Bradley said last Tuesday.

However, today he said that it is "very unlikely" he will run for office in 2010.

Pols look towards 2010

Observers from both parties are looking towards the next election as politicians examine yesterday's election results.

In New Hampshire, the Democrats were able to maintain control of the State House and Executive Council, while they swept the table in the congressional races.

Rich Killion, a Republican consultant, and Steve Marchand, former mayor of Portsmouth, both said that the 2010 election provides opportunities for both political parties.

Gregg running for re-election

U.S. Sen. Judd Gregg (R-Rye) told reporters that he is running for another term to the U.S. Senate in 2010.

"Yup, that's my plan," Gregg said when asked directly if he is running for a fourth term in the upper chamber.

When asked if he would have to adapt his campaign strategy based on the pro-Democratic trends in 2006 and 2008, Gregg said that he will focus on issues important to Granite Staters.

Gregg ‘presumes’ he will run in 2010
