BREAKING NEWS: NH Dem Chairman calls the people "thugs"

NH Democratic Party Chair Ray Buckley

Using what could be best described as an "ugly" term for someone in the chairman's position in one of the mainstream political parties here in New Hampshire, Democrat leader Ray Buckley shows signs of becoming completely unhinged in the face of the groundswell of anti-socialized health care sentiment.

In what is becoming to be an apparent pattern, Chairman Buckley has once again resorted to calling ordinary people concerned for their state's and country's future names. Recalling that back in April, following a number of Tax-Day Tea Parties, he referred to attendees-- which included people of all ages and stripes-- as an "unhinged mob," we now find out that we are "thugs.

Health Care for All: You Can Get It if You Really Want It...

But like the song says, you must try.

I cop to the fact that I'm passionate about grassroots politics. I'm excited by the idea that when people of good will come together and work hard and smart, we can change the course of history. I know this sounds sick, but I often fantasize about how much progress we could make in America if the Democratic party embraced an inclusive, activist culture, and invested in the infrastructure to support it.

We got a taste of what that would look and feel like during the '08 election, when the NH coordinated campaign mobilized thousands of in-state volunteers to deliver strong Democratic victories up and down the ticket.

Catching up on a few things

First, I hope to have the last entry in my Psychedelic Furs tribute done soon. I'm still piecing together memories and data from the live shows. After that, I'll put together the "ultimate" set list for readers to consider before next Monday.

Here are some links that I have been meaning to post for a few weeks now. Enjoy!

The USA Today had this pretty powerful piece the other day about debt: ["Leap in U.S. debt hits taxpayers with 12% more red ink"]. This is probably the most shocking thing I have seen in a very long time. Not only are we on the hook for the federal government's largess, but look at the personal debt.

Yikes! 'Real federal debt' passes $200K per capita

From the inbox, pretty shocking stuff:

Real Federal Debt Passes $200,000 Per Capita For The First Time

For the first time in a generation, Americans have looked at their personal balance sheets and what they see has convinced them to start saving again. They are putting off purchases, paying down their credit cards and even putting money in the bank. At the same time however, the Federal Government has vastly increased its spending and consumption, quickly running up the debt every American will have to confront.

Federal debt has been growing much faster than the economy according to Sheila Weinberg, Founder and CEO of The Institute for Truth in Accounting.

More on Obama's Industrial Nationalization program

President Obama announces the Chapter 11 bankruptcy of Chrysler Corporation..HUH?

What is wrong with that statement?  WHY is the President of the US doing that?  What role SHOULD the Government be doing in this matter?  The only time the President should be announcing a bankruptcy will be that of the Federal Government (countdown now proceeding....).  Once again, it comes down to:

The question we ask today is not whether our government is too big or too small, but whether it works -- whether it helps families find jobs at a decent wage, care they can afford, a retirement that is dignified."

-President Barack Obama, 1/20/09

Well, I suppose that if your aim is to "remake America" as Obama has promised to do, I suppose the answer to this is "yes", if you review these quickie definitions:

  • Socialism - when Government owns the means of production.

Notable Quote[s]: Interview with Mark Levin

Most nights lately I've taken to listening to the talk radio program hosted "the Great One," Mark Levin, author of the important book sweeping the Nation: Liberty and Tyranny- A Conservative Manifesto. About halfway through, I can attest that I have not read anything quite like it with regards to his description of the ongoing battle against the "statists" in every aspect of our lives.

Our buddy John Hawkins was fortunate enough to get to interview Mark Levin for RightWingNews.com. As you would expect, nearly every word is worth pondering and thought-provoking. Answering John's question of how we can push back against the statists in the schools, Hollywood, and the mainstream media, he tells us

We need to fight back on all levels.

NH-02: This 'Aint Your Daddy's NHGOP

It must be really odd to be Charlie Bass these days.  He (wisely, imho) sits out a cycle, only to return and discover his party has marched hard to the right, and increasingly out of reach from a district such as the one he used to serve.

I mean, can you imagine the BassMaster in a NH-02 primary debate with Jennifer Horn, who twitter-cheers governors that keep help out of the hands of the unemployed during a severe economic crisis?

Or Milford's Len Mannino, who has announced an interest in the race?  On his blog he talks about how we Democrats "screw" hard working Americans.

Third Party Billing For Service-Connected Injuries

This story has peaked my interest and I am relatively in the dark. There has been much flailing of arms and gnashing of teeth. My jury is out, but I tend to err with the VSOs. Sorry, Mr.President.

Let's take a walk, shall we?
To set this up, I've provided a Rachel Maddow segment that covers the matter:

(h/t IAVA)

Eleven prominent Veteran Service Organizations wrote to the President:

Dear President Obama:
On behalf of the millions of veterans represented by the veterans and military service organizations that have joined our effort, we write to express our serious concerns about a policy proposal that has been discussed this week in conjunction with the release of your first budget.

Guest Post: We don’t need new taxes, but who will tell Washington?

The road to economic recovery is not paved with new taxes.

by Mike Biundo

New Hampshire’s delegation in Washington needs to share that bit of cold New England logic with their congressional colleagues as they evaluate the Obama administration’s budget proposal.

That proposal includes a giant energy tax increase, although that’s not what the administration’s economic team is calling it. They’d prefer us to think of it as revising Section 199 of the U.S. tax code. That might sound agonizingly dull, but don’t nod off. The revisions they are looking for amount to a $31.5 billion annual tax increase for U.S. energy producers, and that means more economic trouble for the rest of us.
