So, how's all of our money that you're spending, Obama, working out for us all?

The question we ask today is not whether our government is too big or too small, but whether it works -- whether it helps families find jobs at a decent wage, care they can afford, a retirement that is dignified."

-President Barack Obama, 1/20/09

Already, we see billions of our bucks being totally wasted from OUR standpoint (but not from Obama's, I bet); Chrysler and GM are front and center for this nonsense.  The STEWARDofProsperity.org folks (Founder of this new think tank, Fred Tausch, was on our show here) has some info about what all that money spent has done for our house values (emphasis mine):

If the US government and Federal Reserve having

And Progressives complain about profit in healthcare?

Isn't it time to get Government OUT of the healthcare field altogether??  Hey, with examples like this, Obama's question:

The question we ask today is not whether our government is too big or too small, but whether it works -- whether it helps families find jobs at a decent wage, care they can afford, a retirement that is dignified."

-President Barack Obama, 1/20/09

is answered with yet another "No", it's not working....Government isn't exactly setting the world on fire for being accurate or "paying attention to detail" here either:

Government-Run Health Insurance Program Made Almost $19 Billion in Improper Payments in 2008

(CNSNews.com) - Medicaid, the government-run health insurance program for low income people that is administered by state governments and funded by federal taxpayers, made almost $19 billion in improper payments in 2008, according to a report by the Government Accountability Office last week.

President Obama announces the Chapter 11 bankruptcy of Chrysler Corporation..HUH?

What is wrong with that statement?  WHY is the President of the US doing that?  What role SHOULD the Government be doing in this matter?  The only time the President should be announcing a bankruptcy will be that of the Federal Government (countdown now proceeding....).  Once again, it comes down to:

The question we ask today is not whether our government is too big or too small, but whether it works -- whether it helps families find jobs at a decent wage, care they can afford, a retirement that is dignified."

-President Barack Obama, 1/20/09

Well, I suppose that if your aim is to "remake America" as Obama has promised to do, I suppose the answer to this is "yes", if you review these quickie definitions:

  • Socialism - when Government owns the means of production.

Third Party Billing For Service-Connected Injuries

This story has peaked my interest and I am relatively in the dark. There has been much flailing of arms and gnashing of teeth. My jury is out, but I tend to err with the VSOs. Sorry, Mr.President.

Let's take a walk, shall we?
To set this up, I've provided a Rachel Maddow segment that covers the matter:

(h/t IAVA)

Eleven prominent Veteran Service Organizations wrote to the President:

Dear President Obama:
On behalf of the millions of veterans represented by the veterans and military service organizations that have joined our effort, we write to express our serious concerns about a policy proposal that has been discussed this week in conjunction with the release of your first budget.

I wonder where Gilford is on this spectrum...

Mary Grabar, over at Pajamas Media, has an interesting piece on Barack Obama's pal (and former Weatherman) Bill Ayers:

In To Teach, Ayers lists a number of “myths” about teaching. Number four is “Good teachers always know the materials.” Such an assertion flies in the face of research that indicates that knowledge is the most important quality of the teacher when it comes to student achievement. But when education majors take classes like “Education and Cultural Diversity” and “Introduction to Social Justice Education,” as they do at a major Atlanta university, little time is left to focus on subject areas.

Indeed, the model is the 1960s “freedom schools,” those schools that Stokely Carmichael taught in and whom Ayers references.

Air Diva - so, is this "spare no expense, Pelosi?"

The question we ask today is not whether our government is too big or too small, but whether it works -- whether it helps families find jobs at a decent wage, care they can afford, a retirement that is dignified."

-President Barack Obama, 1/20/09

So, is this working yet? Or is this yet another sign that when government gets too big, it can be abused?  When big government effectively isolates those that govern from those that pay for it, there is no way for the individual taxpayer to hold the highest accountable?

Michelle nails the Diva:

And, of course, it's the double-barreled hypocrisy. There's the eco-hypocrisy of the Democratic leader who wags her finger at the rest of us for our too-big carbon footprints, and crusades for massive taxes and regulation to reduce global warming.

Elections, Hope, Change

Elections result in change.

Yesterday that change meant not having to suffer through any more of Bush and Sununu's barriers to science.

One of New Hampshire Sen. Jeanne Shaheen's granddaughters was at the White House when President Barack Obama formally signed an executive order opening the door for more stem cell research.

Shaheen says she has long favored embryonic stem cell research, but the issue became personal when granddaughter Elle was diagnosed with diabetes.

Obama on Monday reversed a ban on federal funding for the research.

Carol Shea-Porter:
"Today, President Obama has given hope to the millions of Americans suffering from Type 1 Diabetes, Parkinson's disease, and spinal cord injuries.

Geithner: Obama to fight international tax dodgers

So, is he going to start with himself and Obama's Cabinet?

Really?  Do these two clowns realize how silly they sound?  The man that the Dems said was the ONLY person who could run Treasury and direct us out of this financial mess, this super-bright who was felled by Turbo-Tax, who is the head of IRS, who is a tax cheat himself, actually had the chutzpah to say that with a straight face?

Oh please....this is Keystone Kops territory.

President Barack Obama's Treasury secretary says the administration will unveil a series of rules and measures in the coming months to limit the ability of international companies to avoid U.

More government distortions of the marketplace - this is supposed to make it better?

Remember a while ago that Chicago plant that closed and its employees illegally took over the building?  And all the media and pols went "gaga" and how the company so poorly treated its employees?  How DARE a company that could not pay payroll keep that plant going!!

When Bank of America closed its line of credit, Republic Windows & Doors closed the doors.  Yes, they failed to abide by the law and give proper notification to its employees. That said, when the expected financial rug got yanked out from underneath them instead of being there as a cushion, what else could they do?
