Horn: 'We can do better'

SALEM--Jennifer Horn (R-Nashua) spent the Sunday before the primary telling supporters that voters "can do better" than current U.S. Rep. Paul Hodes (D-Concord).

Horn is competing in a Republican primary in the 2nd Congressional District against Jim Steiner (R-Concord), Grant Bosse (R-Hillsboro) and state Sen. Bob Clegg (R-Hudson).

Bosse begins day with company visit

"Too often Congress thinks it can fix the economy, but often they're the problem," Bosse told employees of Cirtronics. "I will not get in your way if I get to Congress."

Before a tour of the plant, Bosse met with company executives.

Kruse to officially kick-off campaign

State Senate candidate Doug Kruse (R-Manchester) will officially launch his campaign on August 6th with a fundraiser.

The kick-off event and fundraiser with take place at Manchester's The Belmont Hall & Restaurant on Grove Street.

State Sen. Ted Gatsas (R-Manchester), state Rep., and Manchester Republican Chairman, Will Infantine (R-Manchester and Alderman Mike Garrity (R-Manchester) will serve as event co-chairs.

Billy Shaheen tells Dems to work ‘every day’

MANCHESTER- Campaigning for his wife, Billy Shaheen told a crowd of Democrats that they must work "every day" until the November election.

Shaheen's appearance were the first public comments he has made since he resigned as co-chairman of U.S. Sen. Hillary Clinton's New Hampshire campaign after he made controversial remarks about U.S. Sen. Barack Obama.

Ridge to announce N.H. Veterans for McCain

Former Pennsylvania Gov. Tom Ridge will announce the formation of New Hampshire Veterans for McCain tomorrow in Manchester.

Ridge is also scheduled to attend a fundraising in Bedford.

Ridge often campaigned with John McCain in the Granite State during the primary and has been mentioned as a possible vice-presidential nominee.

Shaheen takes aim at Sununu’s Medicare vote

John Sununu (R-Waterville Valley) of standing up for insurance companies after Sununu voted to uphold President Bush's veto of a recent Medicare bill. Sununu said Shaheen is "out of touch" and that he supported legislation that would have protected Medicare Advantage.

McCain to host Rochester town hall

On his upcoming trip to New Hampshire, U.S. Sen. John McCain (R-Ariz.) will be holding a town hall meeting in Rochester.

The forum will take place on July 22 at the Rochester Opera House. Doors open at 10:30.

Additional events will be announced later in the week.

Knytych preparing to kick-off campaign

Knytch is a Laconia city councilor challenging state Sen. Kathleen Sgambati (D-Tilton) for the senate district four seat.

The BBQ will take place at the Grandview Motel & Cottages in Weirs Beach. Candidates for the New Hampshire House and 1st Congressional District have also been invited to attend the event.

Shea-Porter rallies Manchester Dems

MANCHESTER--U.S. Rep. Carol Shea-Porter (D-Rochester) spent a weekend morning speaking to a meeting of the Manchester Democratic Committee.

Shea-Porter discussed the importance of grassroots activism and energizing Democratic volunteers.

"The work we do now will determine what our country looks like next year," she told the crowd of 35 volunteers, staffers and local politicians. "This is about our country, this is about our future."

Shea-Porter also said that the "middle class has reaped what the Bush Administration has sowed."
