Schilling stumps for McCain in Red Sox nation

MANCHESTER--Red Sox icon Curt Schilling campaigned for Republican presidential nominee John McCain in a crowded Manchester bar.

Schilling told PolitickerNH.com that he was in the Granite State because McCain asked the World Series champion to talk to voters about McCain's campaign.

Schilling said that he thinks the race between McCain and Barack Obama is closer, despite polls that show McCain trailing Obama.

"It depends how much you believe and what you want to believe," Schilling said when asked about the polls.

Door-to-door over and gone?

I was chatting with a candidate for state representative last week.  It's his first time running for office, and we quickly got around to the topic of his campaign plans. 

Signs, of course, were a must. And so, I thought, was going door-to-door, at least around his neighborhood. 

Not so, said the rookie candidate. The advice he had received was not to bother. Too many people were not at home to answer the door, he said, so it was not worth the trouble.
