DeVries defeats Kruse

State Sen. Betsi DeVries (D-Manchester) has won re-election in state senate district 18.

DeVries defeated challenger Doug Kruse (R-Manchester) in one of the most closely watched state senate races in the state.

With 100 percent of the precincts reporting DeVries defeated Kruse by 2,056 votes.

"It was a good race, we worked hard went door-to-door all summer long and put everything into it that we could," Kruse told PolitickerNH.com in an interview. "There's nothing that we would do differently."

Romney stumps for N.H. GOP candidates

MANCHESTER-- Former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney campaigned at a local business for various Republican candidates.

The Republican presidential primary runner-up talked to workers at Oven Poppers about the importance of electing Doug Kruse (R-Manchester) to the state senate and former U.S. Rep. Jeb Bradley (R-Wolfeboro) to the U.S. House.

Swift, Romney to campaign in Granite State

If you are a former Massachusetts Republican governor, there is a good chance you will be campaigning in New Hampshire tomorrow.

Both Gov. Jane Swift and Gov. Mitt Romney will be campaigning in the Granite State.

Romney is scheduled to attend events in the Manchester area for the congressional campaigns of Jeb Bradley and Jennifer Horn. Romney will also campaign for state senate candidate Doug Kruse (R-Manchester).

Swift will be participating in an educational roundtable in Hampton on behalf of John McCain's campaign.

SD-18 candidates cite budget as major issue facing state

GOFFSTOWN--Both candidates in the state Senate District 18 race agreed that spending and the state budget are the most important issues facing the state.

Doug Kruse (R-Manchester) and state Sen. Betsi DeVries (D-Manchester) participated in their only debate, which was sponsored by Manchester's Mayor's Youth Advisory Council.

Manchester state senate candidates’ debate

Candidates running for the three state senate districts held three separate debates on Manchester Community Access Media (MCAM).

In state senate district 16 Bob Backus (D-Manchester) debated state Sen. Ted Gatsas (R-Manchester), while in district 20 state Sen. Lou D'Allesandro (D-Manchester) faced-off against Jason Sakellar (R-Manchester), but in district 18 Doug Kruse (R-Manchester) was alone, since state Sen. Betsi DeVries (D-Manchester) decided not to participate in their debate.

Hurst says Palin will help McCain carry Manchester

MINNEAPOLIS--The Manchester chairman for Sen. John McCain's presidential campaign says that his Gov. Sarah Palin will help McCain win the Queen City in November.

"I think he's going to do much better because of this selection," Cliff Hurst told PolitickerNH.com. Hurst said the pick has energized conservative voters in Manchester.

Hurst, former Gov. Mike Huckabee's New Hampshire campaign co-chair, said he is not disappointed that Huckabee was not selected as vice-president.

Kruse announces campaign co-chairs

Manchester school board member Doug Kruse (R-Manchester) has announced the co-chairs of his state Senate campaign.

Mayor Frank Guinta (R-Manchester), Executive Councilor Ray Wieczorek (R-Manchester) and at-large school board member Debra Gagnon-Langton (D-Manchester) will help lead Kruse's campaign.

Kruse is running in Senate District 18 against current state Sen. Betsi DeVries (D-Manchester).
