Sister papers split endorsement in state senate campaign

The Hampton Union and The Portsmouth Herald have endorsed separate candidates in the Senate district 24 race.

The Hampton Union endorsed political newcomer Christian Callahan (R-Portsmouth), while The Portsmouth Herald endorsed state Sen. Martha Fuller Clark (D-Portsmouth). Seacoast Media Group owns both papers.

In endorsing Callahan, The Hampton Union said that Clark has ignored the Hampton area and has given preferential treatment to Portsmouth.

Firefighters endorse Lynch, Shea

CONCORD-- One of the most prominent unions in New Hampshire endorsed Gov. John Lynch (D-Hopkinton) and Executive Councilor John Shea's (D-Nelson) re-election campaigns.

The Professional Fire Fighters of New Hampshire endorsed the two at a press conference at the Legislative Office Building. David Lang, PFFNH's president, said that Lynch and Shea act as a team like firefighters do.

"We have that same team in Governor John Lynch and Councilor John Shea, the same exact team concept in which they work side-by-side together," Lang said.

Lynch announces Republican endorsements

Gov. John Lynch's campaign has released a list of Republicans that have endorsed his re-election campaign.

The group, "Republicans for Lynch," is co-chaired by former Republican Gov. Walter Peterson and business owner Bill Steele.

Prominent members of the group include Berlin businessman Steve Griffin, and state Rep. Liz Hager (R-Concord), who was defeated in the Republican primary in September and endorsed Barack Obama earlier this month.

Former GOP Bay State Gov. endorses Obama

SALEM-- Using words such as "deep calm," and "first class political temperament," former Massachusetts Gov. Bill Weld endorsed Barack Obama outside an Obama campaign office Friday.

Weld, a Republican, said that he has never endorsed a Democratic presidential nominee but sees Obama as someone who can unite the country and restore America's standing in the world.

"Senator Obama has spent his entire life bringing people together to solve problems," Weld told reporters at a press conference.

Horn endorsed by troop group

CONCORD--Congressional candidate Jennifer Horn (R-Nashua) gained the endorsement Move America Forward's political action committee, MAF Freedom PAC.

According to a Horn press release, "MAF Freedom PAC is committed to supporting America's efforts to defeat terrorism and support the brave men and women of our armed services."

Former Republican Gov. Walter Peterson has endorsed the Democratic candidate in the state senate district three race.

Peterson has endorsed Bud Martin (D-Center Sandwich) over Wakefield Republican Bill Denley.

Law enforcement officials endorse Lynch

Gov. John Lynch (D-Hopkinton) has received endorsements from a slate of law enforcement agencies and officials from throughout New Hampshire.

The endorsements included members of the New Hampshire Troopers Association, New Hampshire Police Association and the New England Police Benevolent Association. Police chiefs from Londonderry, Lincoln and Rindge also endorsed Lynch.

Update: Fire fighters support Letourneau’s, Sgambati's re-election bids

The Professional Fire Fighters of New Hampshire (PFFNH) have decided to endorse state Sen. Bob Letourneau's (R-Derry) re-election campaign.

Letourneau is the second Republican state senator the fire fighters union has endorsed. Earlier this month they endorsed state Sen. Ted Gatsas (R-Manchester) over his opponent Bob Backus (D-Manchester).

Letourneau is running against Daphne Kenyon (D-Windham) in state senate district 19.

Hilary Cleveland crosses party lines, endorses Obama

Hilary Cleveland has thrown her support behind Democratic presidential nominee Barack Obama.

Cleveland served as the New Hampshire finance chair for George H.W. Bush's presidential campaign in 1988.
