Kenney says oil legislation should have been formed earlier

"I'm pleased that we're taking action but I think we should have taken action six months ago," Kenney told PolitickerNH.com after a bipartisan news conference at the State House.

CONCORD--The rising costs of home heating oil has forced Gov. John Lynch (D-Hopkinton) and legislative leaders to call for special legislation to help residents deal with historic increases in energy prices.

Group airs energy ad

An independent political group has begun airing a television ad examining the energy records of U.S. Sen. John Sununu (R-Waterville Valley) and former Gov. Jeanne Shaheen (D-Madbury).

The ad from the American Future Fund is critical of Shaheen's stance on drilling, while telling Granite State residents to tell Sununu to support the Gas Price Reduction Act, an act that Sununu is co-sponsoring.

Clegg begins ‘energy week’

State Sen. Bob Clegg (R-Hudson) has begun what his campaign calls "energy week."

Throughout the week, Clegg's campaign will be running ads on Drudge Report, showing web videos on energy, posting guest blogs on the campaign website and discussing energy issues at campaign events.

Energy takes center stage in N.H. senate battle

The fight for the U.S. Senate has shifted into high-gear with a debate over high energy prices and which candidate offers the best plan to reduce prices.

Both former Gov. Jeanne Shaheen (D-Madbury) and U.S. Sen. John Sununu (R-Waterville Valley) held conference calls with reporters Thursday to discuss various energy issues.

Speaking from a Somersworth's Borderline Fuels, Shaheen offered a five-point plan that she says would reduce home heating costs.

Stephen calls for national energy plan

MANCHESTER- Former Health and Human Services Commissioner John Stephen (R-Manchester) has proposed a nine-point energy plan.

The plan, titled "Roadmap to energy independence," was announced at a gas station where gasoline cost $3.85 a gallon.

Shaheen to focus on energy

Throughout the week, former Gov. Jeanne Shaheen (D-Madbury) will be barnstorming the Granite State to meet with voters about rising energy prices.

Details of the events have not yet been released but Shaheen will be making stops in Salem, Concord, Littleton, Plymouth, Claremont, Newport and Rochester.
