Buckley: 'Jeb Bradley is not fooling anyone' in SD-3 race

New Hampshire Democratic Party Chairman Ray Buckley has released on a statement on the news that former U.S. Rep. Jeb Bradley (R-NH) will run in the special election for senate District 3.

Former New Hampshire Republican Chairman Fergus Cullen has decided that he will not run for the seat and former state Sen. Joe Kenney (R-Wakefield) announced that he is being deployed to Afghanistan next week.

Bradley will be running against Bud Martin (D-Sandwich), who ran unsuccessfully for the seat in November. The District 3 seat became vacant when Bill Denley (R-Wakefield) resigned after being charged with a DWI two weeks ago.

Buckley’s release:

"Jeb Bradley is not fooling anyone.

SD-3: Bud's Definitely Running, Fergus Considering

The special election triggered by William Denley's resignation is taking shape:
Several possible candidates emerged yesterday. Former state GOP chairman Fergus Cullen said he's considering a run. And a spokeswoman for Democrat Bud Martin, who lost to Denley by 500 votes last year, said Martin is "definitely running."
I suspect the path will be quickly cleared for Bud on our side, given how close he came during the general election to swinging that seat.  For the elephants, though, the path is less clear.  According to the article, Fergus doesn't sound too interested if there's going to be a primary, and other names are being tossed around: Joe Kenney, Sam Cataldo (who lost in the primary), even Jeb Bradley.

Sununu Dynasty Holding NHGOP Hostage, Part II

DiStaso:
But for the moment, Republican activists remain enamored of John E. Sununu. The message consistently in GOP circles is that Sununu has first dibs on a candidacy, but they're hoping that he sends a message relatively soon on his plans so that others can begin raising money if he's not interested.
Or, you could have learned that here last Sunday, and that John & John are going to leave everyone hanging until "sometime around the summer," at which point, of course, they will be at a distinct money raising, name rec disadvantage.

What DiStaso does say explicitly for the first time, but doesn't surprise anyone with a pulse, is that both Fergus Cullen and Dukakis supporter John Stephen are gunning for Carol's seat if she runs for senate.

Everybody Knows John Lynch

This Hill article is laugh-out-loud funny.

Two unnamed Republicans who pretend to speak for Gregg know that Lynch will appoint a Republican to Gregg's seat.

Fergus Cullen and Andy Smith know that Lynch will appoint a Democrat.

Will there be a second piece in which Democrats tell us what they know John Lynch will do?

I'll start. Governor? Follow your bliss. If you put in a Democrat, we win in 2010.  If you put in a placeholder Republican, we win in 2010.

And if Gregg isn't tapped by Obama, he is politically damaged by the episode, and it helps us win in 2010.

Cullen calls Hodes ‘arrogant’

New Hampshire Republican Party Chairman Fergus Cullen said that U.S. Rep. Paul Hodes (D-Concord) is demonstrating a "certain arrogance" by thinking about running for the U.S. Senate in 2010.

"At a time when so many NH residents are hoping they'll get power back, Paul Hodes has another sort of power on his mind," Cullen wrote in an email to PolitickerNH.com. "It takes a certain arrogance to campaign for re-election, win, and immediately talk about running for another office before you're even sworn in to the office you just won."
