Carol Shea-Porter joins DCCC fundraising effort

U.S. Rep. Carol Shea-Porter (D-Rochester) has decided to join the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee's (DCCC) fundraising program, The Union Leader is reporting.

The program, Frontline, aims to help freshmen Democrats with fundraising and other political activities.

If Carol Shea-Porter has been successful at one thing, it’s getting things done her way. In 2006, she was a big underdog in the primary, yet defeated Jim Craig, the DCCC’s choice in the race. Then in the general glection she was severely under-funded against two-term Congressman Jeb Bradley. DCCC says Shea-Porter's stance typical of her 'independent thinking'

The chairman of the Democratic National Congressional Committee in Washington said he wasn't worried about the fact that U.S. Rep. Carol Shea-Porter (D-Rochester) is still not participating in a committee fund-raising program even as she faces a tough re-election fight.

U.S. Rep. Chris Van Hollen (D-Md.), the DCCC chair, said that in fact it was typical of Shea-Porter to opt out of the DCCC "Frontline" program meant to help incumbent Democrats in tough races.
