A Democratic State Should Have A Democratic Attorney General - And Some Possible Candidates

Next month, Governor Lynch will have an opportunity to decide on who would best serve as the State of New Hampshire's lawyer for the next five years. I believe he should listen to clearly expressed will of the people of the state and appoint someone who shares their values - in other words, a Democrat.  
It would be very easy for Lynch to simply re-appoint Kelly Ayotte and the easy approach is very often the preferred option for elected officials. This would be a bad idea for a number of reasons, but, I'll limit my criticism to just one case.

Craig elected back to House

Former House Minority Leader Jim Craig (D-Manchester) has won back his old House seat.

Craig was the top vote getting in Hillsboro District 19 with 2,335 votes.

Ryan released on bail

Former state Rep. Jim Ryan (D-Franklin) has been released from prison on bail, The Conway Daily Sun reports.

Ryan was bailed out by Jim Craig, a Manchester lawyer and former House Minority Leader.

"I've been practicing for 25 years, this is the first time I bailed anyone out," Craig told a clerk at Carroll County Superior Court.

Ryan was jailed in late August for failure to pay the court $9,000 from charges relating to a forgery case.

D’Allesandro honored by Manchester Dems

MANCHESTER- Manchester Democrats honored state Sen. Lou D'Allesandro (D-Manchester) at their annual Flag Day fundraiser.

Gov. John Lynch (D-Hopkington) told a story that he was at Fenway Park for New Hampshire Day and a guy came up to him and said he knew D'Allesandro.

"I think half the free world has been either taught or coached by Lou," Lynch told the crowd of 100. "Not only is he a leader in his district, he's a leader in the state."

D'Allesandro told the group that "life is all about relationships."

If Carol Shea-Porter has been successful at one thing, it’s getting things done her way. In 2006, she was a big underdog in the primary, yet defeated Jim Craig, the DCCC’s choice in the race. Then in the general glection she was severely under-funded against two-term Congressman Jeb Bradley. Bradley looked to be on his way to an easy re-election, but Shea-Porter did it her way and shocked the world, or at least the 1st Congress
