Foster not interested in U.S. Attorney post

Former state senator Joe Foster said that he is not interested in becoming the U.S. Attorney for New Hampshire.

"I enjoyed my years of public service in the state senate but I'm currently happily employed by the McLane law firm," Foster told PolitickerNH.com.

Foster says primary not affected

DENVER-- State Sen. Joe Foster (D-Nashua) told PolitickerNH.com that a resolution passed this past weekend will not affect the New Hampshire primary.

Foster served on the Democratic National Committee's rules committee which passed a resolution that will examine the Democratic primary process.

"I thought the resolution was fine it focused on improving the caucus system, the role of the super delegates and the primary calendar," Foster said. "I was comfortable with it because it preserved New Hampshire's status."

Special session called to deal with budget

Gov. John Lynch (D-Hopkinton), Senate President Sylvia Larsen (D-Concord) and House Speaker Terie Norelli (D-Portsmouth) will call for a special session tomorrow to deal with the budget deficit.

Lynch will ask the Executive Council to approve the special session that will take place after the House and Senate hold their regular sessions.

Rep. Lasky to run for Foster's Senate seat

State Rep. Bette Lasky (D-Nashua) tells PolitickerNH.com she will seek Senate seat vacated moments ago by Senate Majority Leader Joe Foster (D-Nashua).

"I have been proud to represent Nashua in the State House for the last 10 years. I have been a part of good, substantial change, and I am excited to be taking my commitment to public service and the city of Nashua to the Senate," Lasky said in a statement.

Update: Court rules 17-year olds can’t vote in primaries

The New Hampshire Supreme Court has ruled that it is unconstitutional to allow 17-year olds to vote in primaries.

The Court issued the ruling after the House of Representatives asked the Court for an opinion on Senate Bill 436, which would have allowed 17-year olds, who turn 18 before the general election, to vote in primaries.

State Senate Committee passes bill that would affect voting age

The Senate Election Law and Internal Affairs Committee voted unanimously for a bill that would allow seventeen-year olds to vote in primaries.

The law would allow any seventeen-year old to vote in a primary, as long as they turn eighteen by the date of the general election.

Foster 'disappointed' Edwards dopping out of presidential race

Nashua State Senator Joe Foster said he was "disappointed" John Edwards was dropping out of the presidential race.

"I'm disappointed he's dropping out of the race, but I'm proud to be a part of his campaign in 2008 and in 2004," Foster said.

Foster said that Edwards' purposed policies elevated the level of debate.
