‘Plumber Joe’ makes debut in 1st CD debate

MANCHESTER--The voter who took center stage in last night's presidential debate was referenced again in a debate between former U.S. Rep. Jeb Bradley (R-Wolfeboro) and current U.S. Rep. Carol Shea-Porter (D-Rochester).

Bradley brought up "Joe the plumber" in an answer on Social Security. During the final presidential debate, both John McCain and Barack Obama used "Joe the plumber" as a reference to discuss their plans for middle-class voters.

Analysts call ‘Joe the plumber’ victor of debate

DURHAM--Political analysts gathered at a debate forum proclaimed "Joe the plumber" the star of the last presidential debate.

The analysts also said that McCain had his best debate performance in the first half of the debate.

"The winner tonight is clearly Joe the plumber," Steve Marchand, former mayor of Portsmouth, told the crowd.

Rich Killion, a Republican consultant, said that McCain used the "Joe the plumber" line because the Arizona Senator wanted to appeal to middle-class voters.
