Pols to honor Pappas

Queen City politicians will gather on June 28 to unveil a monument dedicated to Ron Pappas.

Pappas, owner of Manchester's Pappy's Pizza, died last year after a battle with cancer. His company sponsored almost 20 athletic teams a year and he would discuss the dangers of drunk driving at area high schools. In 1967, Pappas was left paralyzed after crashing his car into a telephone pole.

The monument will feature a plaque and a flag pole located directly across the street from Pappy's Pizza at the Carol M. Rines Center.
