Guest Post: We don’t need new taxes, but who will tell Washington?

The road to economic recovery is not paved with new taxes.

New Hampshire’s delegation in Washington needs to share that bit of cold New England logic with their congressional colleagues as they evaluate the Obama administration’s budget proposal.

 That proposal includes a giant energy tax increase, although that’s not what the administration’s economic team is calling it. They’d prefer us to think of it as revising Section 199 of the U.S. tax code. That might sound agonizingly dull, but don’t nod off. The revisions they are looking for amount to a $31.5 billion annual tax increase for U.S. energy producers, and that means more economic trouble for the rest of us.

Tuesday’s resounding win in five of the six towns that spending cap warrant articles were on the ballot prove that taxpayers are tired of government continually reaching into their pockets and they are looking for relief.

Five Out of Six Towns Pass Spending Caps. Town Meeting Taxpayers Send Clear Message…

 

Lower Spending = Lower Taxes.

Nashua, NH - The call for controlled spending and efficient government from taxpayers across New Hampshire is getting louder and louder each election cycle. This year’s town meeting has proved to be no different. Tuesday’s resounding win in five of the six towns that spending cap warrant articles were on the ballot prove that taxpayers are tired of government continually reaching into their pockets and they are looking for relief. Spending cap warrants appeared on the ballot in the towns of Kingston, Hampstead, Allenstown, Salem, Hudson and Rindge. With only the Hudson warrant articles not passing.

“Taxpayers across this state are sending a clear message that an efficient government that spends their money wisely is the only path to lower taxes.

Spending/Tax Cap Momentum Builds

Claremont and Somersworth File for 2009 Spending Cap Vote 

Nashua, NH - Today, Claremont resident Cynthia Howard in association with the New Hampshire Advantage Coalition (NHAC) filed a petitioner’s committee affidavit with the Claremont City Clerk to begin the petition process for a spending/tax cap charter amendment for the city’s budget.  On Tuesday March 10th, Somersworth resident Real Roseberry, also with the help of NHAC plans to file a petitioner’s affidavit with the Somersworth City Clerk.

“We look forward at NHAC to continue to work with the taxpayers of both Claremont and Somersworth on this effort. In these tough economic times it is even more important that government spends taxpayer money as frugally and efficiently as possible.

Head of IAFF discusses Dodd endorsement, spending caps and Shaheen support

Chris Dodd (D-Conn.) during the primary did not affect the group's reputation.

GOP activist banned from posting on Blue Hampshire

A Manchester Republican activist has been barred from posting on the website Blue Hampshire.

The activist, Tammy Simmons, has been banned from the site because she violated site rules. Simmons was using a pseudonym to post comments on the popular site which is a violation of the rules because the editors claim she is a paid campaign staffer.

Video shows Buckley critical of Lynch

A new video posted on the internet shows New Hampshire Democratic Party Chairman Ray Buckley telling a Democratic activist that he has "problems" with Democratic Gov. John Lynch.

"Do I have problems with John Lynch? Do a lot of people? Absolutely. I have problems with just about everybody," Buckley said in a video posted by the New Hampshire Advantage Coalition (NHAC).

Sunday morning shows

This morning the Sunday morning talk shows were filled with discussions about the looming state budget deficit.

On WMUR's Close Up, the panel discussed the spending cap being purposed by the New Hampshire Advantage Coalition.

"I'm effectively a spending cap in Manchester," Mayor Frank Guinta (R-Manchester) said. "Because this is community based, I think it's been effective."
