The New Hampshire Democratic Party said that unofficial voter registration numbers show that they now have more registered voters than the Republicans.

According to the New Hampshire Democrats, there are now 2,908 more registered Democrats than Republicans. Registration numbers from the election show that there are 280,968 Democratic voters in New Hampshire compared to 278,060 registered Republicans. However, undeclared voters still outnumber both parties with 393,899 voters. The Secretary of State office is set to make the numbers official later today.

Lynch, Hodes poke fun at Palin during fundraiser

MANCHESTER--Speaking at the annual Jefferson Jackson dinner both Gov. John Lynch (D-Hopkinton) and U.S. Rep. Paul Hodes (D-Concord) both began their speeches with jokes about Republican vice-presidential nominee Sarah Palin.

"I need to tell you something about Susan. Something that you should all know about Susan. Susan is a hockey mom," Lynch said. "Yup you bet ya."

Burling, Webb call on Ryan to step down

Senator Peter Hoe Burling (D-Cornish) and Representative Leigh Webb (D-Franklin) issued a joint statement Thursday evening calling on Representative Jim Ryan (D-Franklin) to step down from his House seat.

"It is very shocking to see the entirety of the legal mess confronting Jim and his family. It is also very sad to see how long the history of trouble has become. We believe it is time for Representative Ryan to step down, so that he can direct all his energies to resolving his legal situation and caring for his family," said Burling and Webb.

Burling split over Edwards absence

DENVER -- A New Hampshire delegate for former U.S. Sen. John Edwards is torn over the absence from the Democratic National Convention of the man he supported during the New Hampshire primary.

State Sen. Peter Burling (D-Cornish) said "there's a yes and no answer" when asked whether he was disappointed that Edwards would not be speaking at the convention.

Committee allows nicknames on ballot

CONCORD- During a committee of conference, the House and Senate election law committees failed to reach a consensus on the rotation of names on election ballots.

However, the committees agreed that candidates will be allowed to place their nicknames on ballots.

The two committees were meeting to attempt to reach a compromise over House Bill 358, which would require candidate names and party lists to rotate every election.

Two NH Edwards delegates back Obama

LEBANON -- Two New Hampshire delegates for John Edwards said this morning that when they go to the Democratic National Convention they will be voting for Barack Obama, PolitickerNH.com has learned.

State Sen. Peter Burling (D-Cornish) and Hanover activist Deborah Bacon-Nelson made the announcement this morning at Lebanon High School, where Bacon-Nelson is a teacher.

With his third-place finish in New Hampshire in January, Edwards secured four delegates in the Granite State. Nationwide he has 19 delegates.

Update: Gottesman not running for reelection
