Woods calls Palin ‘serious contender’ for 2012

Gov. Sarah Palin has established herself as a possible Republican presidential candidate in 2010, The Boston Globe reports.

Phyllis Woods, New Hampshire's Republican National Committeewoman, told The Globe that Palin could be a serious presidential candidate in 2012.

Barnes predicts McCain victory in N.H.

DOVER-- While handing out McCain-Palin yard signs, state Sen. Jack Barnes (R-Raymond) predicted that John McCain would carry New Hampshire.

"57 percent to 43 percent," Barnes told PolitickerNH.com after Sarah Palin's rally. "Let me the first to announce that number and make that prediction."

Barnes praised Palin's speech and said, "That lady is the 1st person in Dover High School history to hit a grand slam homerun outside the gymnasium."

He added, "I'm tickled-pick she's here."

Former Ohio House Speaker to visit N.H.

Republican National Committee Co-Chairman Jo Ann Davidson is scheduled to attend the annual Strafford County Republican picnic next week.

Davidson served as the Ohio House Speaker from 1995-2000 and is currently in charge of the planning and management of the Republican National Convention in St. Paul.

Mahoney, Woods running unopposed for RNC posts

[img_assist|nid=1525|title=RNC Committeeman Sean Mahoney|desc=|link=none|align=left|width=200|height=134]Sean Mahoney and Phyllis Woods are currently running unopposed to represent New Hampshire before the Republican National Committee.

Mahoney and Woods are currently filling the positions that were vacated when Tom Rath and Nancy Merrill resigned to work on presidential campaigns.

Candidates for the RNC posts can step-forward the day of the election, but so far no one has publicly announced they intend to challenge either Mahoney or Woods.

NH GOP leadership endorses McCain

The New Hampshire Republican Party's leadership has endorsed U.S. Sen. John McCain.

"With Senator McCain clinching the nomination, I am pleased to announce that National Committeewoman Phyllis Woods, National Committeeman Sean Mahoney, and I heartily endorse Senator McCain," Republican state Chairman Fergus Cullen announced in a statement.

State party bylaws prevented the three from endorsing a presidential candidate until the nomination was decided.

Mahoney "Cautiously Optimistic" RNC Will Not Adapt Primary Rules

New Hampshire's Republican National Committeeman Sean Mahoney says he is "cautiously optimistic" that the Republican Party will not adapt rules that could damage the New Hampshire primary.

Meeting in Washington D.C. recently, the Republican National Committee rules committee heard presentations of five plans that would attempt to restore order to the presidential primary system. Just two of the five plans would preserve New Hampshire's first-in-the-nation primary status.
