Bradley, Shea-Porter camps declare victory after debate

BEDFORD-- Campaign officials from both candidates in the 1st Congressional District said their candidate did a "fantastic job."

Former U.S. Rep. Jeb Bradley (R-Wolfeboro) and U.S. Rep. Carol Shea-Porter (D-Rochester) participated in their first debate earlier today.

UPDATE: AARP Debate postponed; Shea-Porter wants debate rescheduled for bailout vote

U.S. Rep. Carol Shea-Porter (D-Rochester) wants to reschedule her first debate with former U.S. Rep. Jeb Bradley (R-Wolfeboro), so she can work on the financial bailout bill.

Congress is expected to vote a bailout bill Monday. However, the Bradley campaign says that Bradley will be at the event even if Shea-Porter does not attend.

The two are scheduled to debate tomorrow in Manchester at an AARP forum.

Carusone leaves NH Dems, joins Shea-Porter

Pia Carusone, spokeswoman for the New Hampshire Democratic Party, has left her position to manage Congresswoman Carol Shea-Porter's campaign.

"I was thrilled to be asked as there is no better an advocate for middle class Granite Staters than Congresswoman Shea-Porter. She is doing a terrific job serving her constituents and is very well respected in Washington among her colleagues on both sides of the aisle," Carusone said.

Carusone added that the campaign will assemble a "professional operation."

RGA calls Dems claims 'laughable and legally unsound'

The Republican Governors Association (RGA) has responded to claims that it is conducting illegal push polling in New Hampshire.

“First and foremost, RGA’s current strategy and tactics in New Hampshire are legal. Second, we do not discuss them with the media or the Democratic Party. Third, this complaint is laughable and legally unsound,” said RGA Communications Director Chris Schrimpf in a statement.
