All Hands In Lebanon: Vote For ANDY WHITE In Important Special Election This Tuesday!

A VERY important election is being held this Tuesday, June 2nd -- that's like "tomorrow" -- in Lebanon.  It's for a seat in the New Hampshire State Legislature.

We lost House Bill 73 by one vote two weeks ago.  This could be THE vote that will get it passed on Wednesday if our Democratic candidate wins and he can be sworn in on time!

Besides, he's a mighty good candidate.

His name is Andy White, and he's the Democratic candidate running against Republican Randy Wagoner.

Andy White has said he would have voted for House Bill 436, which has already passed the House and Senate and will be sent to Governor John Lynch shortly.

Guinta, CSP and Republicans Going Nowhere in NH

Now that the Equality Bill is temporarily behind us, I want to get back to a poll that Republicans were touting in trying to establish Manchester Mayor Frank Guinta as the Great Hope of the NHGOP. Well, Great Hope in Waiting, as he and others file their nails waiting for John E. Sununu to decide whether he wants to go down to inglorious defeat again.

The poll wasn't good news for Republicans or Frank Guinta. It showed Frank trailing Congresswoman Carol Shea-Porter by 9 points.   Here he is, the best Republicans seem to have to offer, the well known Mayor from the largest city in the district, and he only is pulling 34 percent.

Healthcare Enemy No. 1

Rush Limbaugh offers Democrats an irresistible target as the de facto leader of the Republican Party, but for my money, Rick Scott is the man who best embodies the spirit of the current conservative opposition. The name may not exactly be a household word, or it may ring a faint bell, but Politico recently reported that the millionaire Republican would be heading up Conservatives for Patients' Rights (CPR), a new group that plans to spend around $20 million to kill President Obama's efforts at healthcare reform.

RINOS - those who seem to vote against Republican ideals...

...over and over again.  Big tent?  Not that big such that it includes many Lefty Dems.  And some of these seem to vote more like Dems rather than Rs.  At least, one can almost always seeming expect that in the "important" votes, one can almost see their names listed with the Dems before actually seeing the voting list.

Human Events lists a few national ones:

As part of HUMAN EVENTS ongoing campaign against Republicans in name only (RINOs) we have compiled a list of the Top 10 Most Liberal Republican Senators based on the American Conservative Union Ratings for 2008 (110th Congress, second session.

Conservative Republican wins seat in Central NH race

OK, so it's a budget committee position in the 'Grok hometown, and the elections are "non-partisan," but still-- let me repeat:

A conservative Republican has won a seat in Central NH.

Skip Murphy-GraniteGrok, MTNP radio

As Tip O'Niel famously said, "all politics is local," and what happens in our happy little hamlet is simply a microcosm of the state or country at-large. Fellow 'Grokster Skip Murphy has served on the Gilford Municipal Budget Committee for the past three years (I have served with him for the last two). During that time, we started this blog, shortly followed by the baby 'Grok focusing on local politics-- GilfordGrok.

Bradley itches towards run

Former U.S. Rep. Jeb Bradley (R-NH) has established a political action committee for the senate district three special election.

Bradley has not publicly declared that he is running but establishing a PAC could show that Bradley intends to run.

The PAC, titled “Friends of Jeb Bradley for State Senate,” is chaired by Bradley and Republican activist Eugene Leone Jr. is the treasurer.

Democrat Bud Martin officially entered the race on Monday. Martin ran in 2008 but lost to Bill Denley, who resigned the seat after being charged with drunk driving.

If there is no primary the election will take place on April 21st, but if there is a primary challenge on either side of the aisle the primary will take place on April 21st and the general election will be on May 26th.

NH's HCR 006 - telling the Feds to stay within the bounds of the Constitution

I apologize - after having Rep. Dan Itse on Meet The New Press (MTNP radio promo here, MTNP podcast here, his appearance on the Glen Beck show here), we should have kept on this important NH House resolution.  It is a national deal as over half the States are starting to wake up to the fact that the Federal Government is running roughshod over them.

Want an example why this is important?  What do you say when the Federal Stimulus bill has a clause in it that allows the State Legislatures to override a Governor Veto if that Governor does not wish to accept that stimulus money (as several Republican and Democrat Governors have said publicly due to the strings attached to that money).

My answer is "No"

Blackfive reports:

Shortly after Obama took office, Democratic Sens. John Kerry of Massachusetts and Frank Lautenberg of New Jersey also asked the White House to roll back the 1991 ban.

Why am I not surprised that he of "Jenghis Kahn" (spelling intentional), he of the history of sliming his fellow vets, he of accusing only the dregs of society end up in Irag, would be one of the first to ask.  His intention, in my opinion, is not to honor the fallen...it will be to allow him to spout more of his nonsense.

Yahoo News:

The Obama administration is reversing an 18-year ban on news coverage of the return of war dead, allowing photographs of flag-covered caskets when families of the fallen troops agree, Defense Secretary Robert Gates said Thursday.

Sununu Dynasty Holding NHGOP Hostage, Part II

DiStaso:
But for the moment, Republican activists remain enamored of John E. Sununu. The message consistently in GOP circles is that Sununu has first dibs on a candidacy, but they're hoping that he sends a message relatively soon on his plans so that others can begin raising money if he's not interested.
Or, you could have learned that here last Sunday, and that John & John are going to leave everyone hanging until "sometime around the summer," at which point, of course, they will be at a distinct money raising, name rec disadvantage.

What DiStaso does say explicitly for the first time, but doesn't surprise anyone with a pulse, is that both Fergus Cullen and Dukakis supporter John Stephen are gunning for Carol's seat if she runs for senate.

Boy Who Cried Wolf

Asked whether he would run for reelection, Gregg said he was leaning against another bid. "Will I run? Probably not," he said at the Thursday press conference.

Longer Gregg: "Does anyone else have any other sort of end-of-career position that I don't have to win a race for, but would make me look good?"

"Probably not" is not nearly good enough from a man whose word is not bond.  Gregg is the presumptive Republican nominee for the Senate race until such time when he makes a more definitive statement.

No, I don't expect him to run.  I didn't think he would before any of this happened. But this is a guy who has lost his rights to "probably"s, so we have to act accordingly.
