House GOP prepares to elect new leader

The New Hampshire House Republican caucus is getting ready to elect a new leader for their next legislative session.

Vying for the support of the 176 member caucus are Republican policy leader state Rep. Gene Chandler (R-Bartlett), Sherman Packard (R-Londonderry), Fran Wendelboe (R-New Hampton) and John Reagan (R-Deerfield).

The new leader will fill the void left by the late Mike Whalley (R-Alton Bay). Since Whalley's death, deputy leader state Rep. David Hess (R-Hooksett) has been acting as the de facto leader but decided not to officially seek the post.
