They Don't Support The Troops

(I thought it was time to bump this back to the top)

Face it. There are people that we no longer have to pretend "support the troops". I'm not just talking about the nutjobs (for lack of a better, non-profane term) that hold up "we support the troops when they kill their officers" placards (incidentally I didn't see any of them there to support the guy here in NY that did just that, lobbing a grenade into a command tent in an effort to kill officers - where were his placard holding buddies?), no, I'm talking about your everyday, ordinary, leftwing celebrities and politicians.

How Stimulating

Hope this doesn't keep you from being able to give some thanks tomorrow:
House Republicans asked the Obama administration to stop touting the number of jobs “saved or created” by the $787 billion economic stimulus law, citing widespread reports that the data are inaccurate. They requested a response from the administration before the Dec. 3 White House “Jobs Summit.”

“The inaccuracy of the job creation and retention claims posted on the Administration’s website, www.recovery.gov, has not prevented administration officials from touting this misleading and inaccurate number as evidence that the president’s stimulus spending package is succeeding even as the unemployment rate continues to rise,” House Minority Leader John Boehner of Ohio and Rep.

What A Waste

There's a good reason why adults today are unhappily telling their children that, for the first time in many generations, the world they are leaving them is not better than the one their parents left for them. Instead of doing something about it, of course, the Democratic Debt-i Knights with Obey-Won at the controls are putting the "metal to the pedal and the thing to the floor":
We knew something was funny when the White House claimed that 640,000 to 1 million jobs had been created from this year's stimulus. What we didn't know was that it would turn into a massive fraud.

Uneconomical Renewable Power Gets Less Economical

Hard to believe, but it looks like the solar power pipe dream (for now) is poised to become even more uneconomical compared to, well, every fossil fuel and nice, clean nuclear. Enviro news is reporting:
Solar thermal projects are sprouting in the Southwest like desert flowers after a rain, spurred by the Obama administration's energy agenda and state renewable mandates. But a showdown over their water needs could now preclude the cheapest technologies.

Yesterday, after months of pressure from environmental groups and some concerned residents, one solar project developer backed out of controversial plans to buy rights to a billion gallons a year of local farmers' water.

IBD Updates The Important Stuff

IBD's editorials today really wrap up all the big stuff and, naturally, this is stuff you won't read much about in the MSM.

Iraq:
Democracy is finally taking hold in the wake of Saddam Hussein's dictatorship. That, not American withdrawal, should be the big story. It's time to acknowledge success and to learn from it...

With last Sunday's passage of a law that paves the way for the first national elections since 2005, the Iraqi people will soon be able to cement their unity and nationhood in a way they never have.

The contrasts with 2005 are telling.

Back then, the elections were blighted by a Sunni Arab boycott.

Smells Like Bias To Me

Could you write the following story without so much bias? Of course you could. So why doesn't the press do so? I don't think they can. Check out what I've highlighted and consider whether the language used:

1) is fair to the side the writer clearly disgrees with; and
2) would be the same if the measure had passed instead going down in flaming defeat.

Defeat in Maine a harsh blow to gay-marriage drive
The stars seemed aligned for supporters of gay marriage. They had Maine's governor, legislative leaders and major newspapers on their side, plus a huge edge in campaign funding.

Mayor Stratton's Funding Solution? Illegal Aliens!

You have got to be kidding me. Mayor Stratton's answer to beefing up the government handouts to Schenectady is to make sure the census counts illegal aliens?? The Gazette reports:
Every person that is not counted will cost the city roughly $20,000 in federal and state aid over the next decade, Stratton said.

He urged residents to fill out the questionnaire so that the city can qualify for more aid for Head Start, transportation, programs for the elderly, and Community Development Block Grants that support everything from homeless centers to arts festivals.

“Our city was severely undercounted in 2000,” Stratton said. “When that happens, we lose funding.

I had no idea how quickly I'd be using my own cited information...from here: AMB.
But, get this, the people answering the survey are clearly uninformed mass-media bots that haven't actually been following anything and they still don't support him. You know they haven't got a clue because of this: "And by a lopsided margin, respondents said that Mr. Obama and not Republicans had made an effort to cross party lines and strike a deal that has the support of both parties." You know they're ignorant because Obama has adamantly refused to meet with Republicans, the Democrats have uniformly rejected all Republican amendments to their plans by party-line votes, and Republicans have not been asked to be involved in a single legislation-writing session.

Charles Krauthammer exposes the willful memory loss of the press and the left - don't forget to check out the cartoon from this past Sunday's TU for evidence!
So what does their commander in chief do now with the war he once declared had to be won but had been almost criminally under-resourced by Bush?

Perhaps provide the resources to win it?

You would think so. And that's exactly what Obama's handpicked commander requested on Aug. 30 -- a surge of 30,000 to 40,000 troops to stabilize a downward spiral and save Afghanistan the way a similar surge saved Iraq.

That was more than five weeks ago.

Everyone Must Buy Weather Insurance

(NotQuiteNewsServices) President Barack Hussein Obama, the first black president, announced today with members of Congress at his side that they were working on legislation that would require all Americans to purchase Weather And Natural Climate Emergency Reimbursement (WANCER) Insurance. WANCER, pronounced wan*ker, Insurance will help stop the imminent bankrupting of America that is occurring as a result of excessive payouts by the federal government following declarations of emergencies and natural disasters. Despite trillions in new spending, higher tax rates that have resulted in decreased tax revenue, and widespread and growing unemployment, the president made it clear that none of that was his fault and he inherited everything bad from some jerk from Texas.
