Black Immunity

Well, this is just ridiculous: Racial disparity: All active ethics probes focus on black lawmakers
The House ethics committee is currently investigating seven African-American lawmakers — more than 15 percent of the total in the House. And an eighth black member, Rep. Jesse Jackson Jr. (D-Ill.), would be under investigation if the Justice Department hadn’t asked the committee to stand down.

Not a single white lawmaker is currently the subject of a full-scale ethics committee probe.

The ethics committee declined to respond to questions about the racial disparity, and members of the Congressional Black Caucus are wary of talking about it on the record. But privately, some black members are outraged — and see in the numbers a worrisome trend in the actions of ethics watchdogs on and off Capitol Hill.

If Mohammad Won't Come To The Mountain...

then the Merkel must come to the Hussein - Merkel meets with Obama, then talks to CongressMerkel, who met Obama shortly before her appearance on Capitol Hill, said she wanted to use the Oval Office session and her speech to Congress to express gratitude for American support "throughout the process leading up to German reunification."Heh. Obama refused to stop in Germany to meet with Merkel so Merkel comes to the US to admonish the socialists trying to destroy our economy. Obama's clueless foreign relations team gets schooled again - after a notable snub Merkel decides she's going to just show up and talk some sense into the Democrats - after all, what happens with the US economy affects the whole world.

I'm So Confused

I can't figure it out. First the press is claiming that attacking Obama is hurting the GOP, but then they're claiming that attacking conservatives is hurting Obama. It's almost as if they're just making carp up and don't actually have a clue what's going on or something. ;)

-
A White House effort to undermine conservative critics is generating a backlash on Capitol Hill — and not just from Republicans.

“It’s a mistake,” said Rep. Jason Altmire, a moderate Democrat from western Pennsylvania. “I think it’s beneath the White House to get into a tit for tat with news organizations.”

Altmire was talking about the Obama administration’s efforts to undercut Fox News.

WTF?

Coming soon...Hitler Days on Capitol Hill and Ye Olde Stalin Faire at the St. Louis Arch?
The Empire State Building this week will illuminate red and yellow, celebrating China's 60 years of communist rule. There are many things to appreciate about China, but communism isn't one of them.

What was the Empire State Building thinking in lighting up in celebration of China's long communist rule?...

China's 6,000-year-old history and civilization are loaded with things to celebrate — from its invention of paper money and fireworks, to its great cuisines, its Taoist philosophy, the daring historic voyages of Sanbao (a possible model for Sinbad), millions of Overseas Chinese, and perhaps the awed arrival of Marco Polo into the Middle Kingdom, which ignited the Age of Exploration.

More Proof That They Don't Get It

It's a shame really, that we have painted ourselves into this corner where we are led by the clueless and shameless:

"This is a good bill. This is a balanced bill," [Baucus] told reporters at a Capitol Hill news conference.

vs.

Sen. Max Baucus on Wednesday brought out the much-awaited Finance Committee version of an American health-system remake — a landmark $856 billion, 10-year measure that starts a rough ride through Congress without visible Republican backing.

So it's so good and balanced that not a single Republican supports it.

Media Bias Marches On Washington

Par for the course lately, Investor's Business Daily manages to take a bubbling issue, sort through the facts and rumors over a day or two, and produces a cogent, concise summary and implications. Here they take on the media bias over the huge rally this past Saturday in DC, a rally underplayed and minimized in our papers this weekend - and was it even on the TV news?
The wide-lens shots of oceans of people on the streets of Washington, D.C., even wider than the one above, make it clear that last Saturday's mega-rally against government spending and high taxes was one of the most extraordinary grass-roots events in history.

Your Random Saturday

Long one this week - lots going on!

TimesWatch offers insight (although they don't point it out) into why the New York Times is going (gone?) broke:
And that's the way it most definitely wasn't: Public Editor Clark Hoyt dealt with the paper's notoriously error-filled Walter Cronkite obituary of July 18 by mistake-prone reporter Alessandra Stanley in his latest column, "How Did This Happen?"
The Times published an especially embarrassing correction on July 22, fixing seven errors in a single article -- an appraisal of Walter Cronkite, the CBS anchorman famed for his meticulous reporting...

The short answer is that a television critic with a history of errors wrote hastily and failed to double-check her work, and editors who should have been vigilant were not.

Keep Talking, Mr. Bush

Dick Cheney has already acted the part of the canary. He breathed in the fetid vapors of the current political climate (to recap, that would be a rapid, unchecked rush to socialism by Democrats and the President aided by a willing, even eager mainstream media determined to act as an open propaganda wing for their "god", Obama), choked a bit, but still had his say and survived. And it energized the opposition.

Hopefully President Bush will do the same thing. Obama refuses to stop blaming Bush for everything from global warming to scratchy toilet paper in the White House, and when you're attacked, you respond.

Cronyism And Coverups?

Attention ye ink-stained wretches, ye toilers of the typewriter, ye keepers of the public trust. Sharpen your pencils and fire up the word processors of reality and DO YOUR EFFING JOBS.

You spent nearly 8 full years blasting President Bush for some sort of contrived executive supremacy thing whereby you accused him of thinking he was above the other branches of government and somehow overstepping his bounds.

Well, your god, Obama, has continued pretty much each and every policy of the Bush administration and added some twists that go beyond perfectly reasonable actions into truly troubling realms.

First his AG (the man that said the US was "a nation of cowards" about race)

Are Dems Sacrificing Murtha For Pelosi?

Can it be? Are the Democrats and their public relations wing (the press) throwing Murtha under the bus to distract from the fact that Democrat Speaker of the House has said that the CIA routinely lies to Congress and deliberately planted false evidence against her years ago in their records to contradict her on waterboarding terrorists?

Kinda looks that way to me. Also, you'll kindly note the Friday afternoon release, a well-established trick of the media and politicians:
A Pennsylvania defense contractor who got millions of dollars in congressional earmarks from Rep. John Murtha has been blocked from doing business with the Navy amid allegations of fraud.
