They Don't Support The Troops

(I thought it was time to bump this back to the top)

Face it. There are people that we no longer have to pretend "support the troops". I'm not just talking about the nutjobs (for lack of a better, non-profane term) that hold up "we support the troops when they kill their officers" placards (incidentally I didn't see any of them there to support the guy here in NY that did just that, lobbing a grenade into a command tent in an effort to kill officers - where were his placard holding buddies?), no, I'm talking about your everyday, ordinary, leftwing celebrities and politicians.

Your Random Saturday

Andrew Tallman pointing out the obvious to the oblivious:
Teaching introductory logic for ten years made me vividly aware of the low average quality of reasoning among college students. It also showed me how little improvement can realistically be accomplished by only one semester’s training in the art of thinking clearly. By all rights, then, I should have severely pessimistic expectations about public discourse in this country. Nevertheless, whether I suffer from my own strain of bad induction or just unquenchable naïveté, pandemic outbreaks of illogical memes still catch me by surprise.

That’s why I’ve been so shocked at the widespread assertion that a national mandate requiring individuals to carry health insurance is legitimate (and even Constitutional) because we already require everyone to purchase auto insurance.

How Stimulating

Hope this doesn't keep you from being able to give some thanks tomorrow:
House Republicans asked the Obama administration to stop touting the number of jobs “saved or created” by the $787 billion economic stimulus law, citing widespread reports that the data are inaccurate. They requested a response from the administration before the Dec. 3 White House “Jobs Summit.”

“The inaccuracy of the job creation and retention claims posted on the Administration’s website, www.recovery.gov, has not prevented administration officials from touting this misleading and inaccurate number as evidence that the president’s stimulus spending package is succeeding even as the unemployment rate continues to rise,” House Minority Leader John Boehner of Ohio and Rep.

Don't Hold Your Breath

Any conservatives, small government proponents, or 'right wing talkers' holding their breath waiting for apologies from the fever swamps of the left now that this news has come out?
A Kentucky census worker found naked, bound with duct tape and hanging from a tree with "fed" scrawled on his chest killed himself but staged his death to make it look like a homicide, authorities said Tuesday.

Bill Sparkman, 51, was found Sept. 12 with a rope around his neck near a cemetery in a heavily wooded area of the Daniel Boone National Forest in southeastern Kentucky. Authorities said his wrists were loosely bound, his glasses were taped to his head and he was gagged.

editoriaLIES

Hey! Haven't had one of these in a while, eh? As usual, the editors let their emotions get the better of them and can't stick to the truth writing about a liberal issue near and dear to their hearts...

In today's paper -

Coverage would be notable better under the bill the House has passed...

Coverage? Yes. Care. Uhhhhh...no. At least that's what experience everywhere it's been tried has demonstrated.

~~~~~~
Hi, honey, I'm home.
How was your day?
Oh, not bad.
Did you find a job? You know we're pretty far in the hole already on our credit cards, mortgage, 2nd mortgage, loans.
IBD Updates The Important Stuff
IBD's editorials today really wrap up all the big stuff and, naturally, this is stuff you won't read much about in the MSM.
Iraq:
Democracy is finally taking hold in the wake of Saddam Hussein's dictatorship. That, not American withdrawal, should be the big story. It's time to acknowledge success and to learn from it...
With last Sunday's passage of a law that paves the way for the first national elections since 2005, the Iraqi people will soon be able to cement their unity and nationhood in a way they never have.
The contrasts with 2005 are telling.
Back then, the elections were blighted by a Sunni Arab boycott.
Turn The Middle Side Topwise
Nothing like a Simpsons' quote* to enliven the train wreck that is the Democratic leadership. I just passed along how the Democrats are trying to grab full control over our economic system (forget about health care's 17%!) by putting the government in charge of basically everything about companies - what they can borrow, what they can sell, what they can lend, what they can pay, what they can do, who they can talk to, what they can have for lunch, what color shirts they can wear...
The important takeaway from that story is that they basically want to take the worst parts of the Fannie/Freddie situation, extend them to the rest of the economy, and make them permanent.
More Fed Officials Say 'No Jobs Coming'
More Fed presidents are openly saying that all these wonderful things Obey-Won and the Debt-i Knights in Congress are spending money (that they don't have) on aren't going to get people working again...as if that were their plan in the first place (people making money don't vote for more handouts).
Unemployment likely will remain high for the next several years because the economic recovery won't be strong enough to spur robust hiring, Federal Reserve officials warned Tuesday.
The cautionary note struck by the presidents of regional Fed banks in San Francisco and Atlanta were the first public remarks of Fed officials since the government reported last week that the nation's jobless rate bolted to 10.
Owens Immediately Sells Out NY-23
Wow, that was fast! Mere hours after being sworn in to represent the 23rd, Bill Owens goes from being against the socialization of health care bill currently before Congress to voting for it...after getting to meet with Obey-Won. Any true moderates that voted for Owens because of his stated stances on taxes and health care regretting their votes that put him over the top? Lots of fun being sold out less than a full day after the guy gets into office, eh?
IBD:
Let's start with Bill Owens. He's the "moderate" Democrat who won the infamous N.Y.-23 congressional election last week after liberal Republican Dede Scozzafava dropped out and supported him rather than Conservative Party stalwart Doug Hoffman.
Democrats' Power Grab
You'd think that they'd be content with controlling the White House, Congress, the Supreme Court, etc etc. You'd be wrong.
Of course if you have your eyes open and realize that the "democrats" running the show in the White House and Congress are actually communists and fascists you'd realize that they're not at all content with simple power...they want to expand and extend their control over every aspect of your lives and over the country. Car companies, banks, doctors...how about the entire financial industry in America?
Don't scoff - they're trying to do it as we speak - lead by a guy that let a gay prostitution ring be run out of his house who thinks he can run Wall Street better than his bedroom:
Washington is quietly preparing a hostile takeover of Wall Street with a new bill that would put regulators in control of managing asset prices.
