Time To Spin

I sort of wonder why the sudden push to inflate Obama right now by the media. I guess it must be socialized health care, trying to get the insulated Senators to vote against their constituents on the mistaken impression that Obama is popular - which means they should vote for his unpopular ideas. It's all a mess and I know it comes across that way. Obama is NOT popular with voters and his plans are even less popular. Nevertheless, Senators, even more than Representatives, are extremely insulated from this opinion, so the media is trying to saturate the airwaves and press with the mistaken impression that Obey-Won is popular so they should do what he wants.

House Socialized Medicine Bill DOA In Senate

Good news:
The glow from a health care triumph faded quickly for President Barack Obama on Sunday as Democrats realized the bill they fought so hard to pass in the House has nowhere to go in the Senate.

Speaking from the Rose Garden about 14 hours after the late Saturday vote, Obama urged senators to be like runners on a relay team and "take the baton and bring this effort to the finish line on behalf of the American people."

The problem is that the Senate won't run with it. The government health insurance plan included in the House bill is unacceptable to a few Democratic moderates who hold the balance of power in the Senate.

Black Immunity

Well, this is just ridiculous: Racial disparity: All active ethics probes focus on black lawmakers
The House ethics committee is currently investigating seven African-American lawmakers — more than 15 percent of the total in the House. And an eighth black member, Rep. Jesse Jackson Jr. (D-Ill.), would be under investigation if the Justice Department hadn’t asked the committee to stand down.

Not a single white lawmaker is currently the subject of a full-scale ethics committee probe.

The ethics committee declined to respond to questions about the racial disparity, and members of the Congressional Black Caucus are wary of talking about it on the record. But privately, some black members are outraged — and see in the numbers a worrisome trend in the actions of ethics watchdogs on and off Capitol Hill.

Left! Left! Left - right - left!

Have you found yourself increasingly tilting your head at the news over the past few months? Squinting a bit? Cocking your head at an angle?

Does it seem like something just doesn't seem right - but you can't quite put your finger on it. Like when you hear a faint buzzing but you can't quite figure out what's making it.

Maybe I can help.

It's really this whole bizarro, pathetic Dede Scozzafava thing that finally brought the light on over my head. Particularly with headlines like this:

The Collapse of Dede Scozzafava, Moderate Republican

Scozzafava and the GOP civil war
Besieged by the hard right, moderate Republican Dede Scozzafava withdrew from NY-23: Is the GOP going too extreme?

Your Random Saturday

Jolly pumpkin day, everyone. Be good. And, uh, sorry about being behind on these.

Gee, commie Chavez (big fan of Obama and vice-versa) is ruining his country by trying to centralize everything...anybody surprised?
In his latest absurdity, Venezuela's Hugo Chavez is dictating three-minute showers and no singing. Claiming it's to save water, his act is nothing but a "green" fig leaf to cover his socialist mismanagement...

But the water and electricity shortages are his own doing, and the scope of the crisis signals the systemic shortages of socialism.

There shouldn't be any shortages at all. Green, jungly Venezuela, with some of the world's most spectacular waterfalls, also boasts some of the best hydroelectric capacity in all Latin America.

Democrats Launching Investigations In 3, 2, 1...

So. As we all suspected had to be the case, it turns out that Obama was coordinating with the insurance industry, along with liberal folk hero Baucus, to "sell" socialized medicine over the summer (before Congress sold Obama out and decided to go for the full monty right away instead of a slow strip-tease to socialized medicine as Obama wanted, turning the industry on the lot of them).
At a meeting last April with corporate lobbyists, aides to President Barack Obama and Sen. Max Baucus (D-Mont.) helped set in motion a multimillion-dollar advertising campaign, primarily financed by industry groups, that has played a key role in bolstering public support for health care reform.

In With The Carbon Pollution, Out With The Heat Trapping Pollution

Breathing was so much easier as a kid. You breathe in, your body takes in the oxygen it needs - you breathe out, your body expels carbon dioxide waste. Well, good luck with that. Now we have to teach our kids that every breath they expel is a discharge of "heat trapping pollution", which, of course, is directly related to the imminent destruction of the entire planet.

Might be time to invest in more psychologists, Obama.

This whole language thing is just out of control. Speaking of 'invest', did I really just hear the Teleprompted Won talking about how we're "investing" in carbon capture? Yeah? So when's that investment going to pay out? Are we going to crack open these carbon vaults in 2045 and scream, "Jackpot!"? The guy couldn't talk straight to America for all the tea in China, our friendly enemy.

Save The Earth For Pennies A Day! Not Really

Hmmm...the guy at, what was it, the EPA? writes an analysis that shows that the government is ignoring science on global warming. His career is pretty much killed for it by the libs.

The press picks up one ugly, static analysis that shows that we can 'save the earth for pennies a day!' and trumpets it everywhere...

meanwhile over at the Treasury they've gone through a real analysis and found that's not quite the truth. The study is buried and requires FOIA to dredge up redacted info on it.

Interesting...
A Treasury Department analysis says a cap-and-trade law could cost American families more than $1,700 a year.

Ann Coulter with more lies about socializing health care:
(9) If you like Medicare, you'll love national health care, which will just extend Medicare's benefits to everyone.

...Not only is Medicare bankrupt, but it is extremely limited in whom and what it covers. If Medicare were a private insurer, it would be illegal in many states for failing to cover hearing aids, podiatry, acupuncture, chiropractic care, marriage counseling, aromatherapy and gender reassignment surgery.

Moreover, Medicare payments aren't enough to pay the true cost of those medical services it does cover. With Medicare undercutting payments to hospitals and doctors for patients 65 and older, what keeps the American medical system afloat are private individuals who are not covered by Medicare paying full freight (and then some).

CBO Has MORE Bad News For Obama

Charles Krauthammer passes along the bad news. Krauthammer, by the way, is a doctor (no longer practices).
In the 48 hours of June 15-16, President Obama lost the health care debate. First, a letter from the Congressional Budget Office to Sen. Edward Kennedy reported that his health committee's reform bill would add $1 trillion in debt over the next decade. Then the CBO reported that the other Senate bill, being written by the Finance Committee, would add $1.6 trillion. The central contradiction of Obamacare was fatally exposed: From his first address to Congress, Obama insisted on the dire need for restructuring the health care system because out-of-control costs were bankrupting the Treasury and wrecking the U.
