You Gotta Wonder

You really have to wonder about their sanity when you read liberal press and hear liberal pundits and more pundits reporters when they talk about how dead the Republicans and conservatism is and then actually look at polls.

Obey-Won's approval rating? Toilet:
The Rasmussen Reports daily Presidential Tracking Poll for Thursday shows that 27% of the nation's voters Strongly Approve of the way that Barack Obama is performing his role as President. Forty-one percent (41%) Strongly Disapprove giving Obama a Presidential Approval Index rating of -14. That matches the lowest Approval Index rating yet recorded for this President...

Overall, 46% of voters say they at least somewhat approve of the President's performance.

Star Parker has an interesting hate crime analogy:
Can you imagine a football game where the penalty for roughing the passer is 20 yards rather than 15 yards if the referee concludes that the violence perpetrated was motivated because the quarterback was homosexual?
Most open and transparent administration - evah!
Late Friday during the idle hours of the news cycle, the administration released the names of 100 White House visitors in 481 visits. It wasn't exactly the transparency the president promised. It was simply in compliance with two court rulings that ordered the names to be made public record. Unable to admit misconduct, the White House insisted its disclosure was voluntary.

AP's Initial VA Report Very Honest

Cheers to the AP for the initial brief filed on the victory in Virginia for Republican Bob McDonnell. This is, of course, a severe blow to the Washington Post that exerted massive efforts to derail McDonnell, dredging up college papers or some such nonsense and trying to create a surge against him. It failed.

The initial brief from the AP is quick and honest - hard to tell if this type of honest, sober analysis will continue through tomorrow's post-mortems. I've underlined the stuff I'm (pleasantly) surprised the included:
Republicans wrested political control of Virginia from the Democrats on Tuesday as independent voters swung behind the GOP, a troubling sign for President Barack Obama and his party heading into an important midterm election year.

Left! Left! Left - right - left!

Have you found yourself increasingly tilting your head at the news over the past few months? Squinting a bit? Cocking your head at an angle?

Does it seem like something just doesn't seem right - but you can't quite put your finger on it. Like when you hear a faint buzzing but you can't quite figure out what's making it.

Maybe I can help.

It's really this whole bizarro, pathetic Dede Scozzafava thing that finally brought the light on over my head. Particularly with headlines like this:

The Collapse of Dede Scozzafava, Moderate Republican

Scozzafava and the GOP civil war
Besieged by the hard right, moderate Republican Dede Scozzafava withdrew from NY-23: Is the GOP going too extreme?

Xboxes For Everyone! Or Else

Hmmm...
Senate Judiciary Chairman Patrick Leahy (D-Vt.) would not say what part of the Constitution grants Congress the power to force every American to buy health insurance--as all of the health care overhaul bills currently do.

Leahy, whose committee is responsible for vetting Supreme Court nominees, was asked by CNSNews.com where in the Constitution Congress is specifically granted the authority to require that every American purchase health insurance. Leahy answered by saying that “nobody questions” Congress’ authority for such an action.

CNSNews.com: "Where, in your opinion, does the Constitution give specific authority for Congress to give an individual mandate for health insurance?"

Sen.

Summers Soul Sold

I hope his compensation is enough to salve his sold soul, because before he went to work for Obey-Won Obama he seemed pretty reasonable. Like many other Obey-Won Obama's Debt-i masters, he now spouts nonsense that contradicts what he said before he went over to the dark side. Up is down, debt is great, overspending is salvation, they're doing so much better than Bush despite the, you know, facts...
A former Republican congressional budget chief called the Obama administration’s claims to fiscal responsibility “hypocritical” and “laughable,” noting in particular the mounting unemployment numbers (9.8 percent nationwide) despite the $787-billion stimulus plan enacted in February that he said was poorly designed.

Everyone Must Buy Weather Insurance

(NotQuiteNewsServices) President Barack Hussein Obama, the first black president, announced today with members of Congress at his side that they were working on legislation that would require all Americans to purchase Weather And Natural Climate Emergency Reimbursement (WANCER) Insurance. WANCER, pronounced wan*ker, Insurance will help stop the imminent bankrupting of America that is occurring as a result of excessive payouts by the federal government following declarations of emergencies and natural disasters. Despite trillions in new spending, higher tax rates that have resulted in decreased tax revenue, and widespread and growing unemployment, the president made it clear that none of that was his fault and he inherited everything bad from some jerk from Texas.

Gleanings

A couple of interesting little nibbles here in this AP story: DNC pulls health care ad after Dole objects

The gist is this:
The Democratic National Committee is canceling a television ad touting GOP support for health care reform after protests from one of the Republicans mentioned, former Senate Majority Leader Bob Dole...

Dole is quoted saying: "I want this to pass. ... We've got to do something."...

Dole told ABC News on Sunday that he objected to the ad's criticism of the current Republican leadership.

"I just didn't think it was fair, when I've tried to be helpful in encouraging a bipartisan solution, for the DNC to run an ad that I interpreted and I know others did as a backhanded comment about Republicans," Dole said.

Mona Charen on why conservatism could/should rebound as the controlling political force:
Cash for Clunkers: The goal of the program was to reduce carbon emissions and boost the ailing auto industry. As even "Saturday Night Live" acknowledges, the program succeeded in stimulating the economy -- of Japan...The environmental impact is speculative. Some estimate that the program will save 0.04 percent of CO2 -- or two days worth -- over the next decade. Or maybe not even that. Lee Schipper of Berkeley and several colleagues warned in the Washington Post that new cars are more fun to drive than old clunkers. It is therefore possible that the program will not yield even that de minimus environmental benefit.

Your Random Saturday

Check it out! No more eye-wrenchingly long Random Saturday posts! You know what that means? Now that I've mastered the "page jump" (stop giggling) I can make them as long as I want!

Just kidding, I'm still going to try to make them digestable, I wouldn't read obnoxiously long link-posts from someone else, so why would I expect you, my friends, to read one from me? I won't be changing the length, just hiding part of them by a jump to keep the front page from being too cluttered with them.

IBD has a better lead in than I could come up with, so here it is -
