U.S. Rep. Zack Space (D-Dover) endorsed Barack Obama for president. The endorsement comes after Space was courted by both Hillary Clinton and Obama while the nomination fight was still on.

Space couched his vote in terms of party unity.

"Now is the time for our party to unify behind the candidate that Democrats have chosen. While I continue to believe that the Superdelegate process should be re-examined, I believe that I must use my vote to help bring about the unity of our party."

Space's campaign said it would highlight differences between he and the Democratic nominee in an interview with PolitickerOH.com last week.

Still, Space makes it clear he doesn't favor John McCain.

"Thanks to the failed policies of the Bush Administration, jobs are leaving Ohio by the hundreds, health care costs are exorbitant, and skyrocketing gas prices are draining the income of hard-working Ohioans. To elect John McCain would be to continue and extend the failed policies of the Bush Administration. To elect John McCain would represent, I believe, further devastation for the hard-working people of Ohio."
