NRCC up with ad rehashing Driehaus' absense on foreclosure vote

The National Republican Congressional Committee is up with a new ad in the race for Ohio's 1st Congressional District hitting state Rep. Steve Driehaus (D-Price Hill) for "skipping  a foreclosure vote" to go "fundraising" in Washington.

The campaign of U.S. Rep. Steve Chabot (R-Westwood) hit Driehaus on the same thing in early September with an ad of his own.

Driehaus responded at the time by holding a press conference in front of a foreclosed home in his neighborhood and challenging Chabot to debate the issue.

NRCC spokesperson Ken Spain said that Driehaus claims to be working for the middle-class, but his record shows a different story.

"He missed a critical vote on home foreclosure legislation because he was fundraising in Washington, and just last week he was out campaigning with Massachusetts liberal Barney Frank who not only chairs the powerful Financial Services Committee, but who also opposed any and all reform of Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac," Spain said. "It is safe to say that Steve Driehaus is more than willing to put Washington's interests above those of struggling Ohioans."
