Cordray wants ‘Senior Strike Force’ as A.G.

Attorney general candidate Richard Cordray will form a special taskforce by senior citizens for senior citizens to combat fraud, his campaign announced today.

Senior citizens would be asked to save their mail solicitations for a particular month then have them sorted by the attorney general’s office to find violations of consumer protection laws. Afterward, law enforcement would use the mailings to prosecute fraudulent operators and educate seniors about scams.

"These citizens - our friends, neighbors and family members - need an Attorney General who will stand up for them against the criminals who see seniors as a vulnerable target. That will be my mission and task for the people of Ohio," state Treasurer Cordray (D-Pleasant Twp.) said in a statement.

The program would be based on the existing “Triad” program that joins local sheriffs, police chiefs and senior community leaders who work to stop victimization of the elderly.
