Barack Obama’s words are being used against him in a new ad by Ohio Right to Life that will air statewide in the next week.
The new 30-second spot by the group’s political action committee first features Obama saying “Don’t tell me words don’t matter” then turns to part of his answer at the Saddleback forum in August where he said answering when a person’s human rights begin is “above my pay grade.”
The ad will play statewide on television and in smaller designated media areas like Lima and Zanesville, according to Ohio Right to Life executive director Mike Gonidakis. The audio version of the ad will also play on radio.
Gonidakis said the ad will be distributed to 20,000 supporters this afternoon in an e-mail. The organization will also be soliciting PAC members for contributions. Gonidakis said the radio, television and Internet campaign shows how committed the group is to winning the state for John McCain.
“The PAC is going to pull out every effort it can to see McCain wins Ohio, certainly he needs it to be president,” he said.
Ohio Right to Life is working with National Right to Life to pass out thousands of DVDs, distribute a half million ballot cards and mail pieces, respectively, to voters across the state.
CORRECTION: a previous version of this article misstated the e-mail solicitation for funds. Only current members of Ohio Right to Life's PAC will be asked to make donations.
