Hamilton GOP chair calls Krikorian comments 'unbelievable' and 'ridiculous'

Hamilton County Republican chair Alex M. Triantafilou is calling comments made by businessman David Krikorian (I-Madeira) "unbelievable" and "ridiculous" after Krikorian questioned whether U.S. Rep. Jean Schmidt (R-Loveland) was truly struck by a car last Wednesday.

Krikorian told the Cincinnati Enquirer on Monday that "elements" of Schmidt's story "do not add up."

The Congresswoman was struck by a vehicle and thrown into a ditch while jogging early last Wednesday.

On Monday, Schmidt spokesperson Bruce Pfaff revealed that Schmidt was more seriously injured than originally thought and will be undergoing further treatment and rehabilitation, though she is out of the hospital now.

Krikorian had said that "the way [the hit-and-run incident] was initially reported in the paper doesn't make a whole lot of sense."

Upon learning of Schmidt's further injuries, Krikorian said that, "Now it seems like maybe she was hit."

Triantafilou blogged about Krikorian's comments.

Triantafilou called Krikorian a "longtime Democrat now claiming to be an independent."

He said that Krikorian has "financially supported Victoria Wulsin and regularly votes in the Democratic primary."

Wulsin, from Indian Hill, is the Democrat challenging Schmidt for Ohio's 2nd Congressional District.

"One thing has become clear," Triantafilou wrote. "This man is a rank amateur playing in a game he does not understand and is not equipped to play. His campaign is driven only by his vitriol for Jean Schmidt and his campaign is totally devoid of a clear message. Voters don't vote for hate. They vote for real leadership."
