Carney out with ad featuring Glenn endorsement

Healthcare attorney John Carney (D-Clintonville) is out with a TV ad featuring former U.S. Sen. John Glenn (D) in his race to represent Ohio's 22nd House District.

Carney is running against Dublin City Councilman Michael Keenan (R-Dublin) to replace term-limited state Rep. Jim Hughes (R-Clintonville). This is Carney's second effort at the seat. He was defeated by Hughes by six points in 2006. The district includes the Clintonville neighborhoods of Columbus and stretches northwest to Dublin.

Carney sent a fundraising letter to supporters featuring the ad and asking for donations to keep the ad on the air. In the letter, Carney says that he is honored and humbled "to have the support of a true American hero.

"In sharp contrast to our opponent's ads -- which blatently misrepresent my work as a healthcare attorney -- these commercials will help voters come to understand who I am and what I will bring to the statehouse as their representative," Carney wrote. "We know that Ohio needs real change."

In the ad, Glenn praises Carney as one of the brightest in a new generation of leaders changing politics. Glenn goes on to narrate a biographical portrait of Carney.
