Coleman backs Boyce for treasurer appointment

Columbus Mayor Michael Coleman (D) is ready to support city councilman Kevin Boyce (D) for treasurer – if Boyce wants it.

Coleman told PolitickerOH.com yesterday he would support Boyce if he’s seeking an appointment to the treasurer’s office by Gov. Ted Strickland should state Treasurer Richard Cordray win the attorney general’s race.

"Obviously if Kevin Boyce were interested in being the treasurer, I would support Kevin Boyce," Coleman said.

Coleman joins Franklin Co. Democratic Party chair Bill Anthony as another public supporter of Boyce for treasurer. While Boyce couldn’t be reached for comment, Anthony said in July that Boyce had spoke to Strickland about a possible treasurer appointment.

Boyce, 37, has served on city council since 2000 and is president pro-tem.

Boyce could not be reached for comment.
