AFL-CIO's final GOTV push begins

The AFL-CIO is gearing up to make its final push to get out the vote in Ohio this week, it announced Tuesday.

The labor union and its community affiliate, Working America, is aiming to use 12,000 volunteers to knock on 120,000 doors, drop a quarter-million work site leaflets and call 180,000 households from Saturday through Election Day.

Thus far the AFL-CIO and Working America have knocked on 600,000 doors, made more than a million phone calls and mail drops and sent 4.8 million leaflets to support Democrats.

"We’re going full throttle this weekend to ensure every union voter knows just how critical a vote on Election Day is to our country’s future," said AFL-CIO national political director Karen Ackerman in a statement.
