State House candidate says Dem attack is sexist

A Democratic direct mail attack on state House candidate Carol-Ann Schindel showing her in a short skirt holding pom-poms is being tagged as sexist and her campaign wants an apology.

The Ohio Democratic Party mailer sent to residents of the 63rd House district says Schindel (R-Leroy Twp.) is "cheering for George W. Bush!" and quotes her as saying  "I certainly applaud the work he has done with the economy."

Schindel's campaign chair Curt Lau sent a letter to opponent Mark Schneider (D-Mentor) asking him to publically denounce the mailer, issue an apology and refrain from "any and all sexist campaigning."

CORRECTION: Schindel's name was misspelled in a previous version of this article.
