COLUMBUS – Republican attorney general candidate Mike Crites conceded his race against Richard Cordray (D) Tuesday night, but told PolitickerOH.com he will consider future campaigns.

Crites, a former U.S. attorney for the southern district of Ohio, ran his first political campaign this year for attorney general. Crites said he’ll think things over in the next few weeks.

“There are going to be a lot of different options and there are going to be different ways to approach it,” Crites said, adding that he would want to talk to his campaign consultant, Mark Weaver.

Crites did not say whether he was disappointed in the Ohio Republican Party and his campaign’s poor fundraising. The campaign was unable to meet a $1 million fundraising goal it set for itself for October.

“I’m disappointed to lose because I don’t like to lose,” Crites said. “I don’t play to lose.”

Crites said he enjoyed the race against Cordray because he got to see all of Ohio and hear from its people.

“I look at it as one of the most positive experiences I’ve had in my professional lifetime,” he said.

Crites said he offered his help to Cordray during a conversation Tuesday night on the phone.
