The campaign of U.S. Rep. Jean Schmidt (R-Loveland) has laid claim to victory in Ohio's 2nd Congressional District.

Schmidt is being challenged by Dr. Victoria Wulsin (D-Indian Hill) and businessman David Krikorian (I-Madeira).

The vote-counting machine at the Hamilton Board of Elections broke down and vote-counting was suspended. The Board of Elections told PolitickerOH.com that a new vote-counting machine was now in place and counting would resume tonight until finished.

The Wulsin campaign spokesperson Kevin Franck said that enough votes still need to be counted that the campaign would be waiting for those results to come in.

The Ohio Secretary of State Web site has the race with Schmidt at 46.28 percent to Wulsin's 36.24 percent. Krikorian is coming in at 17.48 percent.
