Boccieri issues statement on Trevena hire

Congressman-Elect John Boccieri (D-Alliance) released a statement following the news that he has hired Ohio Department of Natural Resources deputy director Anthony Trevena as his chief of staff in the U.S. Congress.

"I am pleased Anthony has agreed to serve as my chief of staff in the 111th Congress," Boccieri said. "This is a critical position, and I am confident Anthony's background and experience make him a perfect fit as chief of staff for the people of the 16th Congressional District."

Trevena has a Bachelor's degree in education and master's degree in business administration. He previously served on Gov. Ted Strickland's Congressional staff. Trevena will officially join Boccieri's staff in early January.

"Anthony has been a trusted adviser to me for eight years and has served the people of Ohio at the state and federal level with integrity throughout his career," Boccieri said. "I know he understands the complex issues facing Ohio's families, and I am confident in the skills he brings to this position."

The Youngstown Vindicator reported on the friendship between Boccieri and his newly hired chief of staff, which developed when the two were each running for the Ohio House in 2000.

Currently a state senator, Boccieri won his race for Ohio’s 16th Congressional District to replace retiring U.S. Rep. Ralph Regula (R-Navarre).
