Ohioans certain to see some stimulus dollars

View the original

WASHINGTON -- Despite differences in how many billions will be flowing, most Ohioans can be certain that they will see some economic stimulus dollars over the next two years.

With tax cuts and government spending, Ohio will get $7.9 billion, said U.S. Sen. Sherrod Brown, an Avon Democrat who supported the measure that passed the Senate on Tuesday.

That would include tax breaks for 4.2 million people in the state. The bill would provide $3 billion to help Ohio with Medicaid, the federal-state program that pays for health care for people with low incomes.

And to create jobs while improving the state's infrastructure, the bill includes $282.
