Hamilton GOP urges supporters to join COAST rally

The Hamilton County Republican Party Chair Alex M. Triantafilou is urging supporters to join members of the Coalition Opposed to Additional Spending and Taxes in a rally to oppose a proposed fee increase for trash collection in the city. The event is scheduled for Wednesday afternoon on the steps of Cincinnati's City Hall.

Anti-tax group calls Schmidt 'worst kind of tax and spend Republican'

Updated - An anti-tax group is hammering a TV ad from U.S. Rep. Jean Schmidt (R-Loveland) and her record on taxes.

The Coalition Opposed to Additional Spending and Taxes is pointing to a Schmidt advertisement in which she says she advocates "lower taxes, smarter government regulation and less government spending."

COAST says that Schmidt's record in the Ohio legislature and the U.S. Congress paint a different picture.

Brinkman’s COAST now criticizing Schmidt’s use of congressional staffers

The Coalition Opposed to Additional Spending and Taxes is the latest to hit U.S. Rep. Jean Schmidt (R-Loveland) for ostensibly using congressional staffers to do campaign work.

COAST was co-founded by Schmidt primary opponent and state Rep. Tom Brinkman (R-Cincinnati).

In a letter to Schmidt, COAST says Schmidt's office has "a long history of using tax dollars for campaign purposes" and calls on the Congresswoman to "stop this illegal, unethical and improper practice."
