Chabot and Driehaus debate immigration and taxes

U.S. Rep. Steve Chabot (R-Westwood) and state Rep. Steve Driehaus (D-Price Hill) met up for a televised debate at the National Underground Railroad Freedom Center in downtown Cincinnati, discussing the economy, immigration and taxes.

Driehaus is challenging Chabot in Ohio's 1st Congressional District.

The candidates responded to questions from a panel of journalists, as well as to questions submitted to WCPO.com.

Driehaus camp says candidate has never supported health care for illegal immigrants

The campaign of U.S. Rep. Steve Chabot (R-Westwood) jumped on state Rep. Steve Driehaus (D-Price Hill) on Thursday for remarks he made during a Regional Commerce Partnership debate that the Chabot camp says shows Driehaus supports using tax dollars to provide health care for illegal immigrants.

The Driehaus campaign disputes the charge, saying he has never said such a thing and was uncertain about what the Chabot campaign was even referencing. "That is not something that he stands for," said Driehaus spokesperson Joe Wessels.

Krikorian claiming mantle of 'most qualified' in new TV ad

Businessman David Krikorian (I-Madeira) is claiming to have proven he's the "most qualified" candidate running for Ohio's 2nd Congressional District in a new TV ad.

Krikorian said that the proof came from the debate he had with opponents U.S. Rep. Jean Schmidt (R-Loveland) and Dr. Victoria Wulsin (D-Indian Hill).

Boccieri and Schuring ponder some points in radio debate

State Sens. Kirk Schuring (R-Jackson Township) and John Boccieri (D-Alliance) appeared both separately and together on WHBC-AM's Points to Ponder with Ron Ponder to address issues concerning the 16th Congressional District on Wednesday morning.

The two are vying to replace retiring U.S. Rep. Ralph Regula (R-Navarre) in the 16th District seat.

Both candidates said that the country is facing some difficult times and reiterated their commitment to the people of the district in discussing their reasons for running for Congress.

Driehaus camp accusing Chabot of hiding from Social Security record during debate

The campaign of state Rep. Steve Driehaus (D-Price Hill) says that U.S. Rep. Steve Chabot (R-Westwood) is hiding from his "record of voting to raid the Social Security trust fund."

The campaign is referring to comments that Chabot made during the Waycross Community Media debate for Ohio's 1st Congressional District on Tuesday.

The candidates vying for Ohio's 1st Congressional District met up at the Waycross Community Media election forum October 13 to talk about the issues facing the residents of the district and the country.

U.S. Rep. Steve Chabot (R-Westwood) pitched bipartisanship in his opening statements at the forum that included state Rep. Steve Driehaus (D-Price Hill), as well as independent candidate Rich Stevenson and write-in candidate Eric Wilson.

Candidates tussle over economy, bailout in OH-12 debate

The candidates for Ohio's 12th Congressional District seat squared off in a debate Monday hosted by the Ohio News Now and WBNS 10TV.

The debate was recorded Monday at COSI Columbus and moderated by Andrea Cambern.

The debate featured U.S. Rep. Pat Tiberi (D-Westerville), businessman David W. Robinson (D-Columbus) and Franklin County Libertarian Party vice-chair Steve Linnabary (L-Columbus).

The debate kicked off addressing the recently passed "bailout" legislation.
