Cleveland native to be Obama's protocol chief

Marshall made her name in the Clinton administration after graduating from Case Western Reserve
University law school, and then worked for the Senate and presidential campaigns of Hillary
Clinton.

The State Department Web site describes the post this way: "Whether rolling out the red carpet
for a king visiting the president at the White House, hosting a prime minister at the president's
guesthouse, traveling overseas with the president, credentialing a new foreign ambassador, or
planning events for the secretary of state, the duties of the Office of the Chief of Protocol are
many and varied."

Goodbye and good luck

I'm outta here.

I don't mind people who disagree with me.  In fact, I came here because I enjoy the give and take of a good debate.  Lord knows, I suffered the slings of arrows of several frontpagers, commenters, and other bloggers because of my support of Hillary Clinton.  And yet, despite some deeply personal and regretable attacks from both sides, I stayed.

I've been at this site for three years now.  I've gone through three rounds of site administrators during that time.  I think it's safe to say I'm the longest running member of BSB still blogging. Until today.  Because during my entire time at BSB, I've had one simple request for the administrators here: we don't have to agree with each other, but we should always have each other's back.

Women line up for Fisher; men welcome, too

Democratic U.S. Senate candidate Lee Fisher does not have the backing of Emily's List, but he can boast he's got the support of Women for Lee.

The Washington, D.C.-based Emily's List, a powerful political group that helps elect Democratic women who support abortion rights, is helping his primary challenger, Secretary of State Jennifer Brunner.

Women for Lee is a subcommittee of Fisher's campaign. Topping its organizers, of course, is his wife, Peggy Zone Fisher, an active fund-raiser who helped Hillary Clinton raise big bucks in 2008.

Women for Lee holds its first fund-raiser March 25 in Cleveland. The list of hosts and sponsors are impressive and include: April Boise, partner-in-charge of the law firm Thompson Hine's Cleveland office, Cleveland attorney Jan Roller, Case Western Reserve President Barbara Snyder and Deborah Ratner (Yes, of the family that runs Forest City Enterprises).

Ohio’s own controversy of comparing the President & First Lady to monkeys

There has been quite a bit of discussion in parts of the blogosphere related to the New York Post cartoon and the racism issue that some have raised. Part of that discussion has hinged on the debate aspect that the cartoonist claims the cartoon was not designed to represent President Barack Obama. Yet here in Ohio, there is a controversy brewing over two scenarios where there is no doubt that the President and the First Lady are being compared to monkeys. This is taking place on a website known as the Whistleblower that is online through the Cincinnatus Standard which states it is, “SW Ohio’s Online Home for the Conservative Movement” where in fairness, it should be noted that the Cincinnatus does have a specific

Austria calls Neuhardt desperate, criticizes outside support

The campaign of state Sen. Steve Austria (R-Beavercreek) is saying that opponent attorney Sharen Neuhardt (D-Yellow Springs) has become desperate in her campaign to replace retiring U.S. Rep. David Hobson (R-Springfield) in Ohio's 7th Congressional District, after advancing her own campaign $110,000.

Austria said the advance brings the amount of money Neuhardt has personally spent on her campaign, including her in-kind donations, to over $125,000.

Clinton works to sway Delaware County toward Obama

DELAWARE -- Hillary Clinton lost Delaware County but won Ohio in the Democratic primary. She returned Friday to deliver both for Barack Obama in the general election.

Clinton told hundreds at Buckeye Valley High School deep inside this emerging swing county that no state has more to gain or lose in the election than Ohio. For eight years the state has sunk under the weight of President Bush's economic policies and will sink further if John McCain is elected, Clinton said.

Democrats see opportunity in typically GOP Delaware County

At first blush Delaware County looks like a strange place for Hillary Clinton to campaign for Barack Obama.

The county has voted Republican for president for more than 20 years and gave President Bush 66 percent of its vote in 2004.

But, Clinton, the Democratic senator from New York, will be at Buckeye Valley Local High School today trying to get more votes for her rival in the presidential primary.

Much has changed in four years. Democrats now feel they can bring Delaware into the win column.
