DCCC buried defeated Republicans with $6M

Democrats carried three U.S. House seats in Ohio this year by riding an avalanche of cash from their congressional committee. The Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee spent three times as much on the races than its Republican counterpart, according to Federal Election Commission reports.

The DCCC spent $6.02 million on the 1st, 15th, and 16th Congressional District races from July 1 to Election Day. Meanwhile, the National Republican Campaign Committee spent about $2 million across the 1st and 15th districts only.

NRCC hitting Driehaus, Boccieri and Space for support from Rangel

Continuing a criticism lobbed during the campaign season, the National Republican Congressional Committee is criticizing U.S. Rep. Zack Space (D-Dover), as well as Congressmen-elects Steve Driehaus (D-Price Hill) and John Boccieri (D-Alliance), for their campaign connections to embattled U.S. Rep. Charlie Rangel (D-N.Y.). 

The NRCC issued the criticism of the two, who have yet to take office, after the Washington Post penned an editorial saying that Rangel should step down from his chairmanship of the House Ways and Means Committee.

$1.3M spent for Dems in three U.S. House races

Democrats just received $1.3 million in help to win three U.S. House seats in Ohio from the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee.

The DCCC purchased six-figure media buys in the 1st, 2nd and 15th Congressional Districts Tuesday, according to the Federal Elections Commission.

CQ Politics re-rates the race for Ohio's 16th

Congressional Quarterly Politics has re-rated the race for Ohio's 16th Congressional District from "No Clear Favorite" to "Leans Democratic."

The race pits state Sen. John Boccieri (D-Alliance) against state Sen. Kirk Schuring (R-Jackson Township) to replace retiring U.S. Rep. Ralph Regula (R-Navarre).

NRCC goes after Wulsin as 'one person economic crisis'

The National Republican Congressional Committee is going after Dr. Victoria Wulsin (D-Indian Hill) as a "one person economic crisis" in a new ad being aired in Ohio's 2nd Congressional District.

Wulsin is challenging U.S. Rep. Jean Schmidt (R-Loveland) along with businessman David Krikorian (I-Madeira).

The NRCC ad says that Wulsin wants to raise property taxes, income taxes, gas taxes, as well as increased taxes to cover universal healthcare.

NRCC hits Driehaus for voting no on tax cuts

The National Republican Congressional Committee is on TV in Ohio's 1st Congressional District hitting state Rep. Steve Driehaus (D-Price Hill) for voting "no" on various tax cuts.

The NRCC ad claims that Driehaus "must think we haven't suffered enough." The ad also hits Driehaus for raising money in Washington during a foreclosure vote, which has been a campaign issue in his race against U.S. Rep. Steve Chabot (R-Westwood).

NRCC begins hitting Kilroy on TV

The National Republican Campaign Committee is airing it's first ad against Mary Jo Kilroy in the race for the 15th Congressional District.

The NRCC had reserved $800,000 for advertisements in the district and there have been no reported changes. More details should be available later this week once Federal Election Commission reports for the ad are available.

NRCC reduces time for Schuring

WASHINGTON - House Republicans have slashed advertising time in the hotly contested race for Ohio's 16th Congressional District, the National Republican Congressional Committee confirmed today.

The NRCC had reserved $820,000 to spend over two weeks in the race between state Sens. Kirk Schuring (R-Jackson Township) and John Boccieri (D-Alliance), but it has decided to eliminate its second week of advertising, which was worth about $320,000.

Committees drop $21K of mail for OH-15

Both parties' congressional committees are dropping a new salvo of direct-mail pieces on to the 15th Congressional distict.

The National Republican Congressional Committee purchased $11,400 worth of mail to oppose Mary Jo Kilroy (D-Columbus). The Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee purchased $10,600 in mail to oppose Steve Stivers (R-Columbus).
