DCCC buried defeated Republicans with $6M

Democrats carried three U.S. House seats in Ohio this year by riding an avalanche of cash from their congressional committee. The Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee spent three times as much on the races than its Republican counterpart, according to Federal Election Commission reports.

The DCCC spent $6.02 million on the 1st, 15th, and 16th Congressional District races from July 1 to Election Day. Meanwhile, the National Republican Campaign Committee spent about $2 million across the 1st and 15th districts only.

$1.3M spent for Dems in three U.S. House races

Democrats just received $1.3 million in help to win three U.S. House seats in Ohio from the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee.

The DCCC purchased six-figure media buys in the 1st, 2nd and 15th Congressional Districts Tuesday, according to the Federal Elections Commission.

DCCC buys $600K of TV for House races

Corrected: Three U.S. House seats in Ohio are getting more than $600,000 in media buys from the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee.

The DCCC placed media buys on Tuesday to attack Republicans Steve Stivers in the 15th Congressional District, Steve Driehaus in the 1st district and Kirk Schuring in the 16th district. All of the districts received about $200,000 in media buys.

Polls shows Dems lead in two House races

Polls commissioned by Survey USA and Roll Call show Democratic U.S. House candidates Mary Jo Kilroy and John Boccieri leading in their efforts to capture GOP U.S. House seats.

Franklin Co. Commissioner Kilroy (D-Columbus) leads state Sen. Steve Stivers (R-Columbus) 47 to 42 percent. Independent Don Eckhart recieves 5 percent and libertarian Mark Noble recieves 3 percent. State Sen. John Boccieri (D-Alliance) leads state Sen. Kirk Schuring (R-Jackson Twp.) by 49 to 41 percent.

NRCC files FEC complaint against Patriot Majority

The liberal advocacy group Patriot Majority is the target of an Federal Elections Commission complaint by the National Republican Congressional Committee.

NRCC chair Tom Cole sent a letter to the FEC today, provided to PolitickerOH.com from the NRCC, asking the commission to investigate Patriot Majority for not defining itself as a federal political committee.

Chabot, Driehaus discussing debate terms

This fall U.S. Rep. Steve Chabot (R-Westwood) and state Rep. Steve Driehaus (D-Price Hill) will debate one another after each campaign agrees on the debate schedule.

Chabot campaign manager Jamie Schwartz said he met with Driehaus campaign manager Melissa Wideman to discuss scheduling a meeting in the coming weeks to schedule debates this fall.

Yesterday Wideman sent a press release challenging Chabot to a debate on energy, but Schwartz said he didn’t want to comment about issue-specific debates before reaching an agreement with the Driehaus campaign.

NRCC defends use of paparazzi video against Driehaus

The NRCC defended its use of a paparazzi-style video it sent out yesterday to attack 1st Congressional District candidate Steve Driehaus (D-Cincinnati) regarding his support for Barack Obama.

The YouTube video was filmed by an unidentified man who ambushes Driehuas and his campaign manager while on the street recently in Washington, D.C. The videographer repeatedly asks Driehaus why he isn't supporting Obama for president, which Driehaus didn't answer.

Clyburn: Obama can win Ohio
