Schmidt camp says Congresswoman really begining to take hold in district after win

The campaign of U.S. Rep. Jean Schmidt (R-Loveland) pointed to national Democratic victories as evidence that Schmidt's re-election shows the Congresswoman is really begining to take hold in Ohio's 2nd Congressional District.

The Ohio Secretary of State shows Schmidt was re-elected with 44.96 percent of the vote as of this report,  to 37.27 percent for Dr. Victoria Wulsin (D-Indian Hill) and 17.77 percent for businessman David Krikorian (I-Madeira).

Schmidt has received a total of 143,287 votes, compared to 118,770 for Wulsin and 56,633 for Krikorian.

Krikorian announces run for 2010

Businessman David Krikorian (I-Madeira) wants to be the next member of Congress for Ohio's 2nd Congressional District...in 2010.

Just one day after losing the 2008 race, Krikorian told PolitickerOH.com that he was making plans for 2010.

U.S. Rep. Jean Schmidt (R-Loveland) was re-elected in Ohio's 2nd, beating Krikorian and Dr. Victoria Wulsin (D-Indian Hill).

Schmidt got 44.96 percent of the vote to Wulsin's 37.27 percent and 17.77 percent for Krikorian.

Wulsin concedes race for OH-2

Dr. Victoria Wulsin (D-Indian Hill) has conceded the race for Ohio's 2nd Congressional District to incumbent U.S. Rep. Jean Schmidt (R-Loveland).

The Ohio Secretary of State shows that Schmidt has won the race with 44.96 percent, compared to 37.27 percent for Wulsin and 17.77 percent of businessman David Krikorian (I-Madeira).

Schmidt pulled in 143,287 votes compared to 118,770 for Wulsin and 56,633 for Krikorian.

Wulsin called Schmidt to congratulate her this morning.

MSNBC and CNN call OH-2 for Schmidt

With 99 percent of precincts reporting, MSNBC and CNN have both now called Ohio's 2nd Congressional District race in favor of U.S. Rep. Jean Schmidt (R-Loveland).

Schmidt was being challenged by Dr. Victoria Wulsin (D-Indian Hill) and businessman David Krikorian (I-Madeira).

The Ohio Secretary of State Web site showed Schmidt with 45 percent of the vote compared to 37.25 percent for Wulsin and 17.78 percent for Krikorian.

These percentages translate into 142,992 votes for Schmidt, 118,485 votes for Wulsin and 56,553 for Krikorian.

Schmidt claims victory, Wulsin not conceding with votes yet to count

The campaign of U.S. Rep. Jean Schmidt (R-Loveland) has laid claim to victory in Ohio's 2nd Congressional District.

Schmidt is being challenged by Dr. Victoria Wulsin (D-Indian Hill) and businessman David Krikorian (I-Madeira).

The vote-counting machine at the Hamilton Board of Elections broke down and vote-counting was suspended. The Board of Elections told PolitickerOH.com that a new vote-counting machine was now in place and counting would resume tonight until finished.

Wulsin camp: Early voting in OH-2 shows virtual tie in turnout among two major parties and unaffiliated voters

Early voting in Ohio's 2nd Congressional District shows almost equal numbers of turnout among Democrats, Republicans and unaffiliated voters, according to the campaign of Dr. Victoria Wulsin (D-Indian Hill).

U.S. Rep. Jean Schmidt (R-Loveland) is running for re-election and being challenged again by 2006 opponent Wulsin, as well as businessman David Krikorian (I-Madeira).

The Wulsin camp said total early ballots cast in Ohio's 2nd as of Monday morning show that 26,619 Democrats have voted early, along with 26,024 Republicans and 25,836 unaffiliated voters.

Schmidt asks U.S. Attorney to investigate Wulsin financial disclosures

The campaign of U.S. Rep. Jean Schmidt (R-Loveland) followed through on an earlier threat, and has now asked U.S. Attorney Gregory Lockhart to investigate allegations that opponent Dr. Victoria Wulsin (D-Indian Hill) failed to file, and filed false information, on her federal financial disclosure documents.

Wulsin getting $145K worth of help from DCCC

The campaign of Dr. Victoria Wulsin (D-Indian Hill) got a boost this past week from the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee in the form of $141,525 media buy in her race against U.S. Rep. Jean Schmidt (R-Loveland).

The DCCC Independent Expenditure also disclosed spending $3,784 for media production to the Federal Election Commission, bringing total expenses for the Democratic campaign organization to above $145,000 over the past week in the race for Ohio's 2nd Congressional District.

Wulsin accuses Schmidt of paying campaign staff with tax dollars

The campaign of Dr. Victoria Wulsin (D-Indian Hill) is accusing U.S. Rep. Jean Schmidt of paying her campaign staff with tax dollars. Schmidt responded by calling the accusation an out-and-out lie.

The Wulsin camp is pointing to the most recent Federal Election Commission filings as raising new questions about whether Schmidt's congressional staff are improperly working for her campaign.

Schmidt talking up money and internal poll as showing ‘commanding lead’

The campaign of U.S. Rep. Jean Schmidt (R-Loveland) is talking up the findings of a Tarrance Group poll commissioned by the campaign, and a $40,000 cash on hand advantage in the race for Ohio's 2nd Congressional District.

The Schmidt campaign did not release exact figures from the internal poll, including margin of error, or number of voters questioned, but did say the poll took place October 12 and 13.

Schmidt spokesperson Bruce Pfaff said that as the election heads into the final weeks not much has changed.
