Austria claims victory in Ohio's 7th

State Sen. Steve Austria (R-Beavercreek) has laid claim to victory in the race for Ohio's 7th Congressional District to replace retiring U.S. Rep. David Hobson (R-Springfield).

Both CNN and MSNBC have projected Austria the winner.

Austria is running against attorney Sharen Neuhardt (D-Yellow Springs).

Austria issued a statement saying he was honored to be chosen by the voters of Ohio's 7th.

Franklin County Dems talk up early and absentee voting for Congressional races

The Franklin County Democratic Party says early voting returns show Democratic turnout surpassing Republicans in Ohio's 15th Congressional District and the other two Congressional seats in Franklin County.

Franklin Co. Commissioner Mary Jo Kilroy (D-Columbus) is running against state Sen. Steve Stivers (R-Columbus) to replace retiring U.S. Rep. Deborah Pryce (R-Columbus) in the 15th.

Neuhardt out with new TV ad hitting Austria again on economy, jobs

Attorney Sharen Neuhardt (D-Yellow Springs) is out with a second attack ad on state Sen. Steve Austria (R-Beavercreek), hitting him on the issue of jobs leaving Ohio.

The ad is reflective of others being run by the Ohio Democratic Party blaming Republican leadership for the loss of jobs in Ohio.

Neuhardt camp says Austria is playing 'Monday morning quarterback' on bailout

The campaign of attorney Sharen Neuhardt (D-Yellow Springs) is saying that state Sen. Steve Austria (R-Beavercreek) is playing Monday morning quarterback on the issue of the "bailout" legislation.

The comments come as a response to a statement from the Austria campaign that criticized the Emergency Economic Stabilization Act as not having worked, and Neuhardt for supporting it.

Austria says bailout hasn't worked, hits Neuhardt for support

The campaign of state Sen. Steve Austria (R-Beavercreek) is saying that the Emericency Economic Stabilization Act passed by Congress has not worked, and is hitting opponenent attorney Sharen Neuhardt (D-Yellow Springs) for applauding its passage. 

The Austria camp says that the "bailout" legisilation "has had huge problems from start to finish."

Neuhardt calls economic crisis reason Washington needs new leadership

Attorney Sharen Neuhardt (D-Yellow Springs) said the current economic crisis is a perfect example of why Washington needs new leadership.

Neuhardt is running against state Sen. Steve Austria (R-Beavercreek) to replace retiring U.S. Rep. David Hobson (R-Springfield) in Ohio's 7th Congressional District.

Neuhardt was speaking in response to the failure of the U.S. House of Representatives to pass the Emergency Economic Stimulus Act of 2008. Hobson had voted in favor of the legislation.

DCCC calls Austria, NRCC hit on refugee 'shameful' and 'despicable' in OH-7

The Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee weighed in on Ohio's 7th Congressional District race Wednesday afternoon by calling the latest hits from its counterpart, the National Republican Congressional Committee, and the campaign of state Sen. Steve Austria (R-Beavercreek) "shameful."

DCCC spokesperson Ryan Rudominer commented on the NRCC and Austria's hitting attorney Sharen Neuhardt (D-Yellow Springs) for "harboring an illegal immigrant."

UPDATED: NRCC, and now Austria, keeping heat on Neuhardt for 'harboring illegal immigrant'

After the campaign of attorney Sharen Neuhardt (D-Yellow Springs) accused opponent state Sen. Steve Austria (R-Beavercreek) of being "desperate" for their "cowardly attack" on a Rwandin genocide refugee, the National Republican Congressional Committee decided to press the issue.

The NRCC sent a release the afternoon slamming Neuhardt for "illegal Rwandan immigrant on her farm for the last six years."
