Neuhardt and Garland campaign with Wasserman Schultz on Ohio economy

Attorney Sharen Neuhardt (D-Yellow Springs) and Ohio Physical Therapists Association Director Nancy Garland (D-New Albany) campaigned with U.S. Rep. Debbie Wasserman Schultz (D-Fla.) at a former Big Bear supermarket in Whitehall Tuesday morning.

The event was pitched as the Democratic women joining together to commit to rebuilding Ohio's economy.

Social Security flairs up in the race for OH-1

The issue of Social Security privatization got a lot of attention the last time that U.S. Rep. Steve Chabot (R-Westwood) was challenged in Ohio's 1st Congressional District.

State Rep. Steve Driehaus (D-Price Hill) is going after Chabot on the issue once again.

The Driehaus campaign started the melee by questioning whether Chabot "still supports the Bush plan to privatize the Social Security."

Dispatch endorses Austria in OH-7

The Columbus Dispatch editorial board endorsed state Sen. Steve Austria (R-Beavercreek) in the race for Ohio's 7th Congressional District on Tuesday.

Attorney Sharen Neuhardt (D-Yellow Springs) is vying against Austria to replace retiring U.S. Rep. David Hobson in Ohio's 7th.

NRCC up with ad rehashing Driehaus' absense on foreclosure vote

The National Republican Congressional Committee is up with a new ad in the race for Ohio's 1st Congressional District hitting state Rep. Steve Driehaus (D-Price Hill) for "skipping  a foreclosure vote" to go "fundraising" in Washington.

The campaign of U.S. Rep. Steve Chabot (R-Westwood) hit Driehaus on the same thing in early September with an ad of his own.

Brown and Redfern respond to Bush Ohio visit

President Bush came to Cincinnati Monday to speak at a conference sponsored by the Cincinnati Lawyers Chapter of the Federalist Society and the John M. Ashbrook Center for Public Affairs at Ashland University.

In a prepared version of remarks, the topic of Bush's remarks was the "proper role of federal judges" and Bush spoke of the importance of judicial selections.

Obama in Ohio for two-day 'American Jobs Tour' Thursday and Friday

Sen. Barack Obama (D-Ill.) is returning to Ohio on Thursday for a two-day "American Jobs Tour" through Southern and Central Ohio.

The Democratic presidential nominee's bus trip is slated to roll through Dayton, Cincinnati and Portsmouth on Thursday.

Details for Fridays have yet to be announced.

At each event, Obama will "continue to highlight his plan to add new jobs to Ohio and the country and bring the change we need to Washington," according to the campaign.

SEIU dropping over $70K on mail against Chabot

The Service Employees International Union's Committee on Political Education is dropping $71,194 on printing an mailing literature against U.S. Rep. Steve Chabot (R-Westwood) in Ohio's 1st Congressional District.

Chabot is being challenged by state Rep. Steve Driehaus (D-Price Hill).

According to the Federal Elections Commission, SEIU expended the money to be paid to Compass Media Group on October 2nd.

SEIU also expensed another $1,257 in Ohio's 1st for phonebanking efforts against Chabot.

NRCC, Chabot hitting Driehaus for 'hosting' Barney Frank

The National Republican Congressional Committee and the campaign of U.S. Rep. Steve Chabot (R-Westwood) are taking aim at state Rep. Steve Driehaus (D-Price Hill) for "hosting" U.S. Rep. Barney Frank (D-Mass.) over the weekend.

Frank was in Cincinnati on Saturday for a business roundtable at the Queen City Club with local financial and business leaders.

Frank serves as chair of the House Financial Services Committee and negotiated the recently passed "bailout" legislation.

Schuring hammers Boccieri on 'outsiders' trying to 'buy' seat

State Sen. Kirk Schuring (R-Jackson Township) is hammering on opponent state Sen. John Boccieri (D-Alliance) for "outsiders" inflicting themselves on the race for the 16th Congressional District.

Schuring and Boccieri are vying to replace retiring U.S. Rep. Ralph Regula (R-Navarre).
