Space endorses Obama

U.S. Rep. Zack Space (D-Dover) endorsed Barack Obama for president. The endorsement comes after Space was courted by both Hillary Clinton and Obama while the nomination fight was still on.

Space couched his vote in terms of party unity.

"Now is the time for our party to unify behind the candidate that Democrats have chosen. While I continue to believe that the Superdelegate process should be re-examined, I believe that I must use my vote to help bring about the unity of our party."

Superdelegate Redfern backs Obama

Ohio Democratic Party chair Chris Redfern, an uncommitted superdelegate, has endorsed Barack Obama for president.

"Thanks to the steady leadership of Governor Strickland, the Ohio Democratic Party is organized, energized and strong.  As we unify behind Barack Obama, there is no doubt in my mind that his message of change will carry the Buckeye State in November," Redfern said in a statement.

Waiting on Space's endorsement

With Sen. Barack Obama on the verge of securing the Democratic presidential nomination, U.S. Rep. Zack Space (D-Dover) has yet to announce which way he will cast his vote as a superdelegate at the Democratic National Convention.

Space is currently driving to Ohio from Washington, D.C., and his press secretary, Matt Thorton, said that Space hasn't shared his thoughts on an endorsement.

Thorton said, "He's keeping it close to the vest," but there's no "indication that it's going to happen in the immediate future."
